Hi Chaps,

Thought you might be interested in some very serious Sable that I put onto my clients over the past couple of years. They were taken in my communal concession in the Kafue. The first shot by Brad Cromeens has incredible girth and I have never come across anything like it again. Brad named it the fence post bull. The second taken by Steve Rogers measure 4 feet 2 and a half inches. Work that one out.

thanks andrew, and you and thor havent done such a bad job on your areas :)(y). its a shame we have only managed to resuscitate such a small piece of what used to be an area with fantastic hunting, and plenty of animals not that many years ago.........bushbuck and duiker were all that was left and spooky as hell. the way they are clearing the bush outside our fence is depressing to say the least.....:(

Mike is it not worth talking to the Chief and cutting a lease agreement on the land as a communal conservancy? All meat goes to them and 20% of daily rates?

some south africans have a chunk next door they are farming , cattle and cleared for wheat with pivots, and most of the rest is being occupied by local farmers with their small plots clearing the bush......email me as it would be interesting to chat about it and get some ideas, cheers

A few bulls taken over the last two years.

Best Regards
Louis van Bergen

i will let this link explain the genetics etc of the zambian sable, which can have more black facial markings especially from western zambia than those in zim and sa, but are genetically the same according to some researchers........but are also known generally for bigger horns than those further south apart from the matetsi area in zim which produces some big ones also . http://www.krugerpark.co.za/krugerpark-times-e-6-endangered-giant-sable-25286.html
