Hi,
I've read a few threads on here in preparation for Africa, I had a few specific questions so decided to sign up.
..... I'm in the UK. I hunt Roe Deer mainly (3 - 4 times a week) + the occasional muntjac (they are new to my area), Red deer when I have time, Fallow likewise and foxes when they pop their little ginger heads!
I have always lived in the country and hunted, as my father was a forestry manager. In fact during the 70's he was a parks warden in Swaziland. He always promised to trek me back but due to ill health has never managed it.
I hold all the UK deer (large game) management qualifications and occasionally guide guests in the UK.
I have only been to Africa when I was in the Army (now that's a different type of hunting).
I have started to work all over the world and my company manufactures some specialist hunting equipment (legislatively driven larder equipment, rifle stocks, sticks) however they are a (very) small part of the business - stemming from my hunting.*
Luckily (with a little bit of judgment) our foreign subsidiaries are run by hunters!! So as a business we have our own grounds in: France - deer and boar (stalked, driven, bow and rifle)
Spain - driven boar and deer
New Zealand - deer, pigs, feral cats..... We have a business in Australia also ( but he doesn't hunt so I limit my trips there so they are to and from NZ!
Obvious we have the UK also.
I am hoping to spend about 6 months in SA setting up our new business over there, however would really like to safari in Moz.
And I think other than calibres and the usual guff that's a fairly comprehensive intro!
* we make specialist decontamination equipment.
