Safari Club International out of controll!!!!

Hi all,
I love it.... now they want our money to fight anti-hunters which was their job in the first place!!!! There is no mention of the $645,000.00....was it put back or is it going for a new project?.... The people involved in SCIO were clearly looking out for themselves. Now they want us to stand together with them after SCIO would have hurt a lot of small business people. This issue is not closed by just sweeping it under the rug......

Robert,

Would you like to see the EC members flogged? Would that make you happy?

There is plenty wrong with SCI, but there is also plenty good they do. If you are so upset cancel your membership and do not go to the show. It is that simple.

Another option is to get involved. Organizations can change, SCI admitted they screwed up by cancelling SCIO. They extended a hand by asking members our opinion as to how to improve SCI.

I also do not believe the statements that EC members are benefiting from SCIO are true and only serve to be inflamatory. As I understand most EC members are not paid and donate their time to SCI.

Only time will tell if there are any changes for the better. For all our sake I hope so.

Another note:

If you are a law abiding US citizen and own a gun you should be in the NRA.
If you are a hunter you should be in SCI, DSC, and any other hunting association that will protect our rights.

Do not be afriad to be involved in these organizations. As members we can affect change. Send emails to the leadership. Join a chapter. Go to lobby day in DC. Also, send letters/emails to your Congressman.
If we do not do these things we will lose our rights.

Mike, I respect your opinion.
I did cancel my booth for 2015 and am a life member for many years.
All I'm looking for is checks and balances in SCI.....
I'm a big supporter of conservation and put my time and money in every program I can. Mike my big bitch is SCI became the live style of the rich and famous...... This is not the old SCI.

Robert,

Over the years too few members have done too much in SCI. I believe SCI has 55,000 members. NRA has 5,000,000 members.

There is a definite need for more grassroot membership. The everyday hunter needs to join, but they need to see the benefits of joining.

Supporting our rights should be the number one mission of SCI. Everything else (awards, magazines, convention, etc) should be secondary or used as a means to fund the primary mission.

SCI's image of rich, old, fat, white guys hunting in Africa needs to end.

Mike, good point.......
Most hunting, rifle and pistol clubs mandate to be a member.

Robert,

I hate to see you cancel your booth. I know for most exhibitors the SCI show is very important. Maybe you will reconsider. If you do I will buy you a beer and we can straighten out all of SCI's problems.

Good luck to you.

Mike, I'm glad we're on the same page....

Mike, I don't know you but I like what you have to say.
My friends also ask me not to cancel my booth and I was not going to my SCI chapter dinner on Saturday. Mike, I'm going to the SCI Chapter dinner and will rescind the booth cancelation . I would love to have a beer or two at SCI........

Very well said Mike and all so true.

SCI, like lots of organizations, needs some fixing. But even if there were proof of malfeasance (which I have not seen), the personal attacks are, I suggest, way over the top. Let's by all means deal with the bad guys, either through the rules of the organization, or through the courts, if it extends to that. But let's try and stay civil with each other. Life's way too short for the level of anger these issues seem to raise.

By the way, I have always enjoyed the conventions, and Safari magazine!

Well 'm a Brit not an American but I have been following this story on another forum. I was disgusted by the actions of SCI. I do think that it would be a very good ida if many people boycotted their convention even if they have reversed their decision, just to show tem once and for all how stupid their idea was. Teach them a lesson and all that...

Well said MJ75 and my opinion is: +1 with yours.
