EAA (European American Arms) located in Florida has received the first shipment of the Sabatti SxS doubles. Although the first guns in are 45-70s, they will be coming in all of the classic African calibers up to the 600 NE. There is one on GB now at an affordable (as doubles go) $3500.00. I am not affiliated in any way with EAA. They are also the importer of the Baikal SxS doubles.

Would like to hear more about this firearm, how is the accuracy? Weight? How does it handle? Safety quality? Easy to put shells in or hard? Ejectors?

Keep up the good work Tarawa!

x2......would be a great rifle for thrashing around in the hazelnut and dwarf birch after wounded bruins. ;)

9.3x74R Caliber

I just looked these rifles up on a Canadian distributor site and they are available on it in 9.3x74R caliber as well and a couple of different models (stock design). Priced from $3300 - $4400 Canadian dollars. Made in Italy.

A sample of the high grade model was at the Shot Show in Orlando Florida. These will be offered to the dealers at a pretty good price. What they hit the street for is another story. The price you quoted in Canadian dollars is in line with the pricing I got.
I expect these guns to really hit the streets in September. The Italian proofing houses were on holiday for the month of August, but should be back in full swing in September. I would like a 9.3 x 74 myself.
The high end model was beautifully embelished with game scenes. The one that I posted a picture of is nothing like the one posed in their catalogue. These are listed in the USSG catalogue which seems to be the sporting arm wing of EAA.

A fellow purchased one in Canada and posted it on another site. It was in 7 x 57 and did not have the case colored receiver.

These have been sold out for over a month. But there's a fresh batch due in "someday" according to what I was told at the Sydney Ne. store.

Tarawa ,

Must be fine doubles, are these made in sidelocks too ?? and what calibers ?

Monish

The quality is an unknown factor at this point. There's too few owners that have told us about them so far. The calibers range from 9.3X74R all the way up to 500 NE.

Mike,

Must be fine rifles .

I decided to bail out on getting one of these. I picked up a fancy Searcy 450NE instead.. It'll be here next week!

Now I don't need to worry about a quality issue! I know it'll be good! :D

AkMike, you made a good move there! The rifles Butch builds a very good rifles, and I have never shot one that wasn't regulated perfectly, and as Accurate as a double rifle can be made. He uses Pac-Nor barrel blanks for his doubles. I've known Butch Searcy for many years since he lived in Farmington, New Mexico, and he is a stand up guy who will back his product, and you don't have the be the first buyer! If you give him a call he will be able to tell the exact load your rifle was regulated with!

.....................................Enjoy You new rifle!

Thanks Mac.. I've already tossed over a hunderd rounds down the tubes and I'm still smiling! It throws bowling pins off the 100 yd berm w/o problems.
This weekend there'll be a bunch more run down them too. This time it'll be a smaller 'shoot out' than the others here but there'll be a 4 bore DR and a 600NE as well as a couple of 500/450 NE's and 2 450 NE's.
Come on up and join the fun! The snow's almost gone.

The Cabela's in Glendale, AZ has two in .45/70. The fit and finish was entirely acceptable for a $2,300 USD rifle. I would have liked the action to break further for extraction - it looked a little snug. If they get get them in any of the better calibers I may consider purchasing one. I'd really kind of like to wring one out at the range. But I've got several .45/70 as it is.

They recently recieved several 470's and 500's. But they seem a bit light for the caliber at 9# and 4 oz. I think that's about 4.4kg. I'd look under the pad and seen about adding weight. The new price is $5500. Still a cheap price for a big bore DR, IF the quality is there.

I purchased one of the 9.3's last week. Fit and finish is much better than I expected. I did not like the look of the fiber optic sights and planned on changing them but after shooting it I really like them. Mine shoots about an inch and a half at 50 yards and recoil was much lighter than I expected with a gun that is just over seven pounds. The triggers are a little heavier than I would like and I might have them worked on in the future but for now they are OK.

Only time will tell on how they will stand up but for now I am pleased as punch. I was always afriad I would scratch up my Krieghoff and I would not have dreamed of taking it out if there was even a chance of rain. With this gun I plan on using it a lot more due to a more versitable caliber and a lot less expensive gun and ammo.

sabatti mod 92 45/70

hello,
i bought a sabatti modle 92 in 45/70 last week at cabelas in hammond ind. paid $2995.00. always wanted a double in 45/70 but did not want to pay $10.000.00 and up. i am well pleased with my new double rifle. shoots great with all four factory loads, and came regulated with 300 grain winchester hollow points. was a little stiff for first 50 rds but is loosning up and working 100%. like the fiber optic sights, they show up well. break open gun after fireing and turn up and shell caseings slide out of barrel. the only thing i did not like was gun came with a 15 1/2 lenth of pull. as i am a gunsmith i cut it back to 14 1/2 for me. it fits well, points great , shoots good. yes triggers are a little hard it keeps the gun from doubleing on you. the only bad thing i can say about my new gun is it kicks like a mule. after twenty rds it was hurting and no fun. i plan on puting in a mercury recoil suppressor in butt stock. then back to range. i am well pleased and can not wait to go to tenn. for some wild boar hunting. barrels marked ussg, rockledge, fl. sabatti, italy. will handle load to 31900 psi. marked 2200bar. jeff

One of my good buddies in the gun trade was going to import these guns. He was going to upgrade the wood, and regulate them with Hornady ammo. He even had plans to do a small run on 577's. Too bad Cabelas had to stick there nose in and bring them in.

AK Mike that searcy gun, is one fine gun. It wacked a very nice Asian waterbuff for one of my friends. I know that gun would not be on the market if Clay did not have a FAMARS 450 droplock on order!
