Hunting reports

For a first timer in S.Africa I was beyond pleased with my experience. It started with a blesbuk on the morning of the first day and proceeded to get better day after day. BHS was top level in all aspects. The trophies were listed in order taken. Blesbok (15.5), kudu(53 7/8), warthog(12.5), gemsbok(38.5), impala(20.5), impala(21.5). My kudu was taken at 200 yds with a 30-06 168gr Barnes tsx one shot. I shot the 168gr for the whole hunt and was one shot kills, which I felt was a great load combo.
The hunts were challenging, shot placement and being persistent was hand in hand. My PH (Reon) did not disappoint in giving me every opportunity for trophy animals. I didn't realize how hard the hunt would be in the bushveld, but the challenge was what made the hunt. The animals are tough and your opportunity for a shot are short. Overall, I couldn't be more pleased with my experience!

Thanks for posting you hunt report.

That Blesbuck looks like it was hunted on a wet cool day. Otherwise sun tan weather.

Congrats on your hunt.

Great group of animals and bet you were thinking about going back right after the first stalk

To me? Nothing not to love. To my wife? This one would have even less of a chance of being put up on the bedroom wall!!! LOL

Nice trophies. Big pig.

Way cool. Love those Kudu!

Relyt530 all of your trophies were nice. Thank you for sharing the pictures. May I ask which trophy gave you the greatest excitement?

Basically all of them. But to be more detailed I would say the Gemsbok, it was a great stalk, and true hunting experience. We spotted them about 400 yds out, and then stalked for over an hour, passing up a huge impala at 40 yds from us and about 300 from the gemsbok (praying it wouldn't snort and spook the gemsbok) then the bull was surrounded by cows, then he separated from the cows and turned away with his rear facing us, and took the shot opportunity away. All the time we were crouched down like a catcher. Then he turned broadside for me and I took the shot off the PH's shoulder at about 180yds. Then ran about 150 yds and dropped. What a feeling.....ph found the bullet on Monday.
