My next trip over I will be going to start my dangerous game with a couple plains game thrown in. I was wondering where you all would look for a great opportunity at a trophy cat? At this stage I am open to pretty much all countries and outfitters so long as a good opportunity is there. Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Bobby

Hi Bobby,
We will be able to help you in Namibia. We have a great place there with plenty of cats and excellent plains game hunting. Were you looking at 2014 or 2015?

Take Care,
Marius Goosen

Sorry about that it would be either 2015 or 2016

At least as important & probably more important, is WHO to go to for leopard. - A really good, experienced cat man it worth his weight in gold!

As to country: I'd say Tanzania if you've got the money or Tuli Block Botswana, Zim or possibly Namibia if budget is more important as the best options.

Yes sir I figured the "who" would be most important. In that department I have no experience so I would like any recommendations you guys could make while I'm researching. I've looked at Tanzanian hunts and I could do them but I probably wouldn't be able to hunt the next year or maybe two with their much higher cost. If that's THE place then I may be able to justify it though. Thanks for the help.

Bobby,
The reason why I asked about which year, is because we have already sold our permit for this year. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me or PM, and I will be more than happy to supply you with info.

Best Regards,
Marius

In Tanzania, I'd say Wikus Groenawald or Jason van Aarde of GFT, in Zim, I'd say someone like John Sharpe or Andy Hunter and in Tuli Colin Kirkham......... There are several others that are equally as good but they're the ones that spring to mind just now.

Thank you I will look into them all as well

Bobby,

I can help you i. 2015 . I have one of my two permits left ... I will PM you details in the next day or two . Yes it is important to go to the right pkace the first time .... Otherwise you will become part of bad statistics on leopard ... We are not cheap .... Maybe there is a reason ......

Nick Nolte in Omaruru Namibia has a tremendous success rate and a bunch of cats. Nick Nolte Hunting Safaris He and Isabel are wonderful people with a great camp as well.

Bobby, Were you looking at taking your Leopard with a bow?

Contact Chris Troskie.

He has 6K acres out the back of his home with free range Leopard, great habitat and plenty of food source (monster Warthog). Bow or rifle.

Worth an email at least.

You do have a couple of options, as an FYI, try to go to an area where light or rather night hunting is permitted.

Good options in my experience are.
Mozambique
South Africa
Zimbabwe
Tanzania

Also be sure to check references a hunt of this magnitude should be taken seriously, by both outfitter and client, many have toyed with the idea of Leopard hunting and came up short...

Pre baiting is a must, the days of arriving in a leopard camp and spending 3 - 4 days in getting and putting out baits are over. Hard work will equal success, it is not a science but takes allot of work.

I hope you find what you are looking for.

My very best always.

Good luck with your quest sir. Some great guys have offered you some sound advice!!! I hope you get the hunt that you want. Be sure to book with a reputable outfitter and i reccon your chance to success will be much higher

Best Regard

Thank you all very much. Lots of good advice and recommendations for me to research and consider.

HI Bobby,

Welcome to the forums, 2014 is pretty much booked for leopard, i have some availability for 2015. as far as deals go you may be able to get some price reduction on a late season hunt. drop me an email if you want to discuss it.

My wife and I are doing His/Her Leopards in 2015 with Derek Littleton of Luwire Safaris booked through Greg Brownlee (Jeff Neal). Many reasons this was our choice.

1) It's in the Niassa Reserve in Mozambique and we enjoy going to different places

2) I wanted a daylight Leopard only (no lights). That's an individual choice and there's nothing wrong with using lights where legal.

3) Derek has a ridiculous success rate on Leopard.

If I hunted Zim for Leopard it would be with Thierry Labat.
