There is a local outfitter that has taken numerous Barbary with both rifle and bow hunters, he is the undeniable expert on these species (as with many other exotics in SA) and is definitely the guy you should talk to. He hunts the premier locations and have taken numerous Barbary over 30".

His details are as follows:

He looks rough but I have heard he is an excellent outfitter and a real nice guy. Never met or hunted with him myself though.

Salt of the earth type of guy really, he might look scraggly but he is great and honest guide. I look forward to hunting with him again later this year. He is known for producing top trophies and goes above and beyond for his clients.

Thanks for all the response, am looking at maybe doing a hunt In a year or two and can now start researching the outfitters. Thanks again.

Just curious, Why africa? There are some great true free range hunts for aoudad in NM and Texas, as well as the cost will be much less.

I have to agree with James on this one, Texas or NM.

That is true, that is where I will be hunting mine as well. Both because of the lesser cost and free range animals. Win win.

There are MOST DEFINITELY free range Barbary in South Africa, hunting them is akin to Vaal Rhebuck.

Them is fighting words.
Do not lower my beloved Vaalies into the category with those smelly sheep. :)

You learn something new every day. that would be a cool hunt, even if they are smelly...

Seeing them running around in the rim rocks in the southern US looks like they would be an incredible quarry.
If they hide in the same terrain in RSA it would be an incredible hunt.

Just not as good as any Vaalie Hunt. :)

In answer to the question is we have hunted them in Texas and wanted to hunt them with a multi location hunt in SA. Maybe after we do another Namibia trip.

Smelly buggers they are! But highly-nervous-with-keen-senses smelly buggers!

In 5 days hunting I never came anywhere NEAR a decent ram with my bow. They are a really difficult customer when hunted by means of fair chase!

Go to the Trans Pecos region of West Texas..... Awesome animals & super cool scenery.

I would be interested in it if you pass. Please send me the info on the gun shop if you do not buy it. I have the needed ammo and brass.
Thanks,
Ross
