Okay Guys & Gals, it is that time of the year where we have to make new outfits and clothing for our clients.

Let me know what would be essential and if you have any creative ideas share them with us.

Give me advice please:

  • Bush Shirts (Long or Short Sleeve) (Olive Green or Khaki)
  • Hats / or Caps (Choose one)
  • Jackets (Fleece or Cotton)
  • Pull Overs (Fleece or Cotton)

Do you prefer the clothing colours to be Cammo or just Earth colours for example (Khaki, Stone, Beige, Navy, Brown, Grey and Green).

Thanks Guys & Gals!

Looking forward hearing your thoughts and helping me decide on which of what to have done.

Hi I would go with the short sleeve olive green over long
I don't do baseball caps since one size fits Mose don't
Jackets might be nice to have them in a techie material for when they get home
Pullover fleece or same as above
Color I would not hunt in mine so I would say earthy color

Nice you are thinking about your customers

well as we have been talking about this for us men who hunt either color works( inside joke between friends) or there are some nice combo of the two colors two which looks good. For the outfitter pink so we know who they our when they pick us up at the airport. For me I would like a long sleeve if it is like a tee shirt style and short sleeve if more a collared shirt type.I like a baseball style hat as I wear that more but caps can be nice but your early season client would not wear it there.Remember you have a warm and cold season and you want them wearing the stuff in there pics to so some of each maybe needed.I also like fleece when hunting so that would be my choice on a pullover type.Just make sure your logo shows good and sized right to show up.On shirts and pullovers do your logo front and back.

the outfitter pink so we know who they our when they pick us up at the airport.
Billc for you I will do anything, will get you your pink chick gear as requested on the special requests section of the booking form.

Taking different seasons into consideration is of importance, however the clothes should not just be worn on the hunt in South Africa but also on other continents and should fit with that climates as well.

All them comments makes one have some homework to do, but I enjoy it. Nothing gives more satisfaction than having a Happy Client.

Oh you will pay for that my friend. As I told you real men can wear pink so I can pull it off.And just so you know we have different climates over here to which I hope to show you the cold one sometime in the future then you will like your hot days even more.

Loodt, I prefer to wear camo when i hunt in Africa as it is what i am comfortable hunting in North America with, kinda the same principle of wearing boots that are well worn in. That being said, the safari clothes i enjoy in earth tones as I usually wear them more for social activities than hunting. They are great for conversation starters when out and about upon returning home.

You have it wrapped up adgunner! Thanks for sharing, exactly thats why I was considering earth tones - marketing for me, conversation starters for you and great to wear the apparel of which you just invested in.

Although I always wear camo in NA, I prefer traditional earth tones in Africa. I like Billcs idea about the camo/earth tone combo, I am a fan of them as well.

As far as an outfitter is concerned it is more important that the clothing is worn after the hunter leaves as advertising. The key to this is a subtle, attractive logo. No matter how nice a shirt/hat is, it will not be worn if it has a gaudy obtrusive logo.

Loodt, maybe you can pick Billc up in pink camo... LOL

Shirt long sleeves, earth tones.

Cap, earth tones.

Jacket, cotton, camo.

Pull over, fleece, earth tones.

Billc,

I changed my mind on us taking Loodt to CO/NM for an elk hunt. I'm thinking late season Idaho so he can hunt in all white!!! We need to show him what cold really is!! :)

Loodt,

I think you nailed it wanting to come up with something that can be worn on both continents and not just hunting. As we've discussed, I think that camo is overrated when hunting colorblind ungulates. I wouldn't even wear it over here as much as I do, but the best jackets simply aren't available except in camo, or at least it is very hard to find one and not worth the effort. In Africa I wouldn't wear camp simply because it doesn't seem, well, African. What can I say? I'm a romantic. Nothing at all against those who wear camo exclusively, but it is the movement and not the color that the animals see. This doesn't apply to those animals that see color of course.

In Africa, you often hunt in areas where there are a lot of monkeys, they see color as well as a human, and they will make a big fuss if they see you and scare away whatever you are stalking.

That s why wearing camo makes sense.

Makes sense to me!! I'm here to learn. :)

I like shirt styles that make my shoulders look wider than my waist and have collars that lessen the number of chins visible in pictures. Its hard to beat good service.

Nothing like a hunt where you throw your deer in the back of the truck immediately after shooting it and by the time you get home the legs are frozen too hard to skin them already! Sitting in a stand 11 hours a day for a November SK whitetail at -25c with 40mph wind. I am shivering just thinking about it.

It does at least keep you from stressing about deciding on short or long sleeves!!!

LOL, by the time I am geared up I am wearing 5 sets of sleeves! all long btw.

Hi Loodt
Interesting question...
What one takes depends on the, Month & weather you will expect to encounter.
I do a history on the weather for the area that i will be hunting to see what the high's and low's have been the past few years.
I also pull up the 30 day forecast prior to leaving to see if i need to change a few items of clothing.

I take 100% cotton clothing except for the jacket and coveralls
Shirts - Green in both long and short sleeve plus a thermal long sleeve under t shirt especially if you are hunting at night for bush pigs.
I will take a mix of dark - light green shirts and a fish camo shirt i was given.
Pants - Both Black and Blue wranglers work just fine.
Coveralls for night hunting will be a camo uninsulated outfit.
Hats - i take a black hat however i will have a ball cap along also.
Jackets and pull over are rain resistant and a microfiber build

You will find that Khaki - stone - beige & some grays will not be your best choices. They are to light.

I love earth tones, you can go out in the public without everyone turning their heads.

That's why I wear camo in public, so they can't see me....
