Is there a reason for all the tyre kicking and no interest in these amazing prices?

Glad to see another new Outfitter member on AH.

For my simple mind can you clear these day rates up for me?
They are confusing to me. I do not want to work to figure out an offer.

Is there a reason for all the tyre kicking and no interest in these amazing prices?

Willem, You asked the question so I'll answer.
The first reason is likely related to above.
Another is compare your offer to others. It is an open forum. I guarantee that every hunter on here is comparing everything.

Calling me a "tire kicker" is not the way to engender my interest. In fact when I read it I was immediately offended. Likely not your intention.

A few more points:
1. It is the middle of SHOW SEASON around the world. I have three shows to go to in the next three weekends. Would you buy something before you were done shopping?

You can see quite quickly that if the members here think a hunt is a Great Deal they will jump on it immediately. I just watched a Leopard hunt disappear in 24 hours! It even had me thinking about it seriously.
So there was a buyer waiting for something to tip the scale. It happened.

2. Because of exchange rates changing in the last month your prices ( and everyone else's) just went up 15%! If your costs just went up that much would you sit back and think a bit more?

3. Do you have some pictures of the trophies from your latest hunts you can share here or your hunters want to share with AH members?

Willem, as Brickburn has stated AH members are used to these deals popping up all the time and as offers go, this one is less than the average list price but far from "Amazing".

Your day rates work out to $390/day for 7 days or high average and your game prices are discounted but not enough to be "Amazing".

If you look in the amazing deals on hunts forum you will find a plethora of offers that are much better than this one.

To answer some of your concerns ..... We are paying about $6 a golon for fuel . It costs us between $ 200 - $ 250 per day to service a client properly . The game he listed are honestly the lowest I think he can go .... In oreder for him to run a good operation he needs to make a decnt profit ...

Richard I understand your points, it is expensive to put on a good hunt and by themselves the game prices are quite good, some better than quite good. As a package however this "Amazing" offer is quite run of the mill when looking at his competitors offers.

My 1st impression when I read this offer was OK but not so amazing, hence my original comment. No offense intended just stating my observation.

Brickburn, to clear the day rate. Lets say you booked a 7 day hunt. That would have you hunting 5 full days and if you are lucky 2 half days. Depending on arrival and departure times. I charge per night so that would bring 6 nights in total. Hope that clears the matter.
I agree that we all look at the other specials on offer, which are mostly package deals. I decided not to bind clients with packages, but rather give them a list of species at reduced rates to hunt from.
My intention was not to offend any one by using the term " tyre kicking". Simply wanted to know why after almost 330 views there were no replies, positive or negative. If you look at it from my side it worked, just look at the informative reply I got from you.
I know that we are in show season, and agree that everyone is looking for the best deal for their buck, but I have learned through experience that you get what you pay for.
In your second point you where mentioning prices that went up. Now everyone knows that the rand got weaker, but I can assure you that our costs definitely went up, and will continue to rise through out the year.
I know this is not the cheapest offer on AH. But what I can tell you is that for what you are paying you are getting incredible value for your money.
You are welcome to have a look at Chacma safaris face book page for pictures.
Once again thanks for your reply and info.

Thanks Richard. "In order for him to run a good operation"... I am glad that you are using those words.

Another couple of points that may be slowing things down for you, are that you have no reviews on the AH forum, and secondly I cannot seem to find you on PHASA?? Both of these are quite important to most, when checking out a hunting outfitter. Just my opinion...

Diamondhich, I totally agree with you that this is not the cheapest deal on AH, and that the animals I offer can be hunted with most of the outfitters on AH. What I am saying is that for what you are paying you are getting a hunt of a lifetime with an amazing guide on some of the most beautiful hunting grounds of South-Africa.

I certainly cant claim otherwise. Good luck to you.

That gives me an idea of where you are coming from.
I personally book hunting days not accommodation nights. :)

As a moderator I tend to jump in and help anyone. I recognize that many people do not understand some of the weaknesses of the internet/email that create misunderstandings. I generally give people the benefit of the doubt.
Hence my response.

If you just want attention your title worked like a charm. You get 330 views.
The title attracted attention and then people moved on.

I have no idea which forum your offer should be posted in. However, by having 330 views and few comments it appears the members expectations/perceptions of the "GREAT DEALS forum" were not being met.

As demonstrated by this comment:

Which forum you post in will create different expectations.

....

Thanks for the invite, but you have just made me do more work and I personally won't be bothered.
A forum is dynamic and valuable because of the "sharing".

I wish you well in your business and good luck. I look forward to your participation here on AH.

Hi Guys - I recently hunted out of Willem's place and can tell you that he is a gentleman and his lodge is very nice indeed. I was hunting with another PH who is a friend of "Wem's" as his friends call him, but he did much of the prep work and came with us as another set of eyes on the hunts. I ended up with 3 nice trophies. 1 gold and 2 silvers. As to pricing - I have not seen many $1950 nyalas. Anyway - Wem is a good man with a great lodge with excellent results. I only hunted three 3 days with 3 specific species in mind, but I surely enjoyed my stay.

SNIPER59,

Luckily it's just your opinion!!...

I know a lot of Outfitters that has credibilty in the hunting fraternity that doesn't belong to PHASA as a member.

On the contrary, their is still 'crooks' that is members of PHASA today...Take Dawie Groenewald (Out of Africa Safaris), Tielman Erasmus and Juan Pace (Shangwari Safaris) and as far as my knowledge has been banned from this Forum - all Outfitters / PH's connected with Rhino Poaching in RSA - ALL still members of PHASA...just my opinion!!

Hi Brickburn.

Thanks again for your help and interest, I think this is a wonderful site where hunters can gain and share valuable info.

Patrick ,

I have to correct you ..... Neither Dawie or Tielman has been members of Phasa for at least the last 10 years ....... Juan Pace I see is still a member but I know that there are complaints pending ... we have crooks everywhere .... Some just hide better than others . I do not agree with everything in PHASA either but I think nobody will ev agree on everything i an organasation . This is a comfort to clients thatthey know where to go in case a problem arise . They have some form of recourse . If you want change join and make wrong things right from inside . Sorry for gettting sidetracked on the post but I just needed to correct the members issue .

Hi Gerry,

Nice to hear from you. Thanks a lot for jumping in and the positive and kind words. I am glad that you enjoyed your stay with us. ( pity about the Civet, maybe next time ).

Richard,

My apologies, yes i see now that Juan is still there; the others not!...that is what you get by NOT doing your homework...:banghead:. My point is, it is not to say if you belong to PHASA that the hunt will be ethical and ok.

I still know of Outfitters that doesn't belong or never belonged to PHASA ever and give's a 'top notch' outfit for the last 15-20 years!!

I also know of younger PH's and Outfitters (or let us call then PH's and Outfitters to be!!!) beloning to PHASA just to get a PHASA reference without any experience what so ever... (dad is rich, did the PH course, has a ranch, now a registered Outfitter... - we even have them on this Forum!!!)

Have a look of RSA PH's hunting illigal in Zimbabwe...What does PHASA do about them (and i know and have seen this argument on many other forums...the statement is always the same...PHASA cannot do anything because they are not governing as an organization in that country...sound like bullshit to me!!) PHASA did change a rule when exhibiting on DSC...you have to be a member of PHASA to show!

Comfort to clients at this stage is NOT PHASA (What can they do?, cut you free from their organization....? Take you to court? Some of these Outfitters mentioned above has the money to do with PHASA as they feel to do!! Even the SA goverment are sruggeling to come to a point the last 2 years!!)

I hope PHASA succeed to get rid of these in house shit. At THIS STAGE i think the best client comfort will be to check and check and check
references!! Speak to past clients!!

I do 2nd that we have crooks everywhere...but to claim that if you are not a member of PHASA you will not get a TOP NOTCH HUNTING OUTFIT is not true!!
