What would you do if you had $100,000 USD to spend on hunting in Africa? Where would you go? What would you hunt, etc?

You have to spend it all in one year!

Well with those funds you could hunt pretty much where you wanted and your pick of trophies. I'd probably spend a month and do Leopard, Lion, Croc, Buff and lots of plains game. I'd use this "dream" as a reason to pick up a nice double rifle I'd think.

Interesting question Cliffy.

With Botswana closed and RENAMO on the move again it narrows things down. Without counting dollars exactly or spending to much time thinking:

1. Zimbabwe - Lion, elephant, buff, leopard.

Depending on how much money is left:

2. CAR - LDE.

or:

3. Zambia - Sable, roan, Kafue Lechwe.

If a couple of bucks were left over:

4. Uganda - Impala.

$100,000 doesn't get us very far towards are dreams anymore does it?

These would close the deal on that budget in a heart beat:

CAR: Bongo, LDE.

Zambia: Sitatunga, Sable.

Ahhh, for sure a trip to Zim for another buff hunt with Shangaan, a croc, hippo, wildebeest, hyena, another croc, another buff, and then another buff. All in Zim. Maybe a side trip to Hwange and then the rest driving around and camping in the bush...Or I would settle for pure buff hunts the whole time. Oh! And I want to go on an Herp safari! Not Herb, Herp!

Oh! And I want to go on an Herp safari! Not Herb, Herp!

Not sure what a Herp is......or what it is short for but if you really want it I am sure you can find it in Zimbabwe!;)

Herpetology, the study of reptiles and amphibians, let me include parasitology as well. I would love to have a month or two in Africa studying the parasites that live there.. Call me crazy. But damn, that is one fantasy I will never let go of.

Just go swimming over there and the parasites will find you! :) :)

cliffy if your feeling generous and can throw in another $30,000.00 then a full bag 30 day tanzanian hunt taking everything on licence. nearest thing to an old days east african safari you can get .:)

When I win the lottery I will be doing just that. That is my dream hunt! Planned that many years ago.

OH wait, you have to play the lottery to win the lottery. I guess I won't be going to Tanzania any time soon.

The best way to spend it would be to put it towards hunting poachers.

I mean, what better sport could there be than kneecapping them from a low flying helicopter?

Or is that is a little extreme for today's society? ;)

My Dad (before he passed away), always said that there was a place in society for summary execution for the greater good!

You pretty much nailed my list, great minds think alike!

The Bongo and LDE in CAR tops the list for me as well and I would do it with a bow and I would spend as many days needed to get them both.

If any money left, I also would see if I could afford one or more of these animals: Sitatunga, Sable and buff.

First I need a bigger house to hang more trophies !

Then, buff, buff, buff......

I guess it's different for me because I've done a fair bit in Africa........ so I'd like to go somewhere (preferably not too cold!) and hunt a BIG bear!

I've always been intrigued by the various gazelle species, so I suppose a grandslam up the east coast of Africa, all the way north would be on my card.

Definantly a few weeks in the Selous.

You'll just have to do a spring bear hunt. Cold is going to be a relative concept though.
