If I am taking dangerous game and plains game, I take my .375H&H and my .308. If there is no dangerous game to be hunted, I take my .308. I'm lazy, if I'm hunting plains game I refuse to carry a .375H&H rifle when my .308 w/scope weighs 5lbs 14oz.
I’ve seen several PH’s wear sandals or crocs. I personally wear Oboz brand hikers. I do use quality wool socks for all my hunts. I wouldn’t be too concerned about the boots/hikers you choose.
I used a Swift Aframe to take this giraffe. I really think I have a recovered bullet, next time I go to my cabin I’ll look to see if I can find it so I can post a picture.
I've taken 5 giraffe, all with my .375H&H, 300 grain bullet, 2 with Swift Aframes, 2 with Barnes TSX, 1 with Hornady DGX. Take that high shoulder shot, they'll walk a few steps and fall over dead.
I took my lion with Barnes 300 grain TSX, worked very well. I am a huge Barnes fan, but I do feel there are better choices for thin skinned game than Barnes.
When I hunted in Cameroon last year there was a couple of guys from Africa in camp, they were saying Andy and Michelle had a parting of ways. I then noticed the last season or two of TIA, Michelle was not in any of the videos. Like you, I always thought they'd be a fun bunch to be around.
I flew Airlink in Sept 2022, JNB to PE and back, I had 2 rifles in my case, they are only concerned with the weight of the gun case as that is how they determine the fee to fly your firearm. If I recall correctly it cost around 85.00US both ways to fly my rifle and ammo case.
If you hadn't bought them for that there would have been many of us here that would have taken that deal!! Great going!! Now get yourself a safari booked!
