    Best Tasting African Animal

While in Namibia we tried kudu, gemsbok, and springbok. One night we had kudu cutlets that were my absolute favorite. Gemsbok was also very good and springbok seemed to have a more 'sweet' taste to it.

What Areas Have You Hunted in Namibia?

Bowhunted about an hour south of Gobabis in 2007. While there I was able to take a gemsbok, springbok, blesbok, duiker, and baboon with my bow.

Good Camera for Hunting & Photo Safari

Before our trip to Namibia we picked up the Nikon D40 (an SLR) and it has been a great investment. It takes great pictures and it is pretty easy to use. The camera body is not terribly expensive and there are plenty of lens options out there (you can certainly find good deals on ebay). While...

Rifle and load options for mixed bag safari in C.A.R.

Of the two guys you mentioned, I would opt for the .450 as a one-gun battery. If you're going to be hunting the thick bush for bongo, buffalo, etc. you can use the heavier load with less chance for deflection. However, if it isn't much hassel I would take both guns. In case you have an...

    New to forum

South Africa will have a number of operators who have sable and I'm sure there are even some operations in Namibia that have them. Search the hunting directory here on AH and you should be able to find operators offering them.

    HUNTING Kudu

Pudgy, Look at the picture below of the kudu with the skeleton overlay. Imagine the bull is standing perfectly broadside (not taking a step forward). If you follow the leg bone up the front leg you'll see that a few inches above the "belly line" the elbow begins to move towards the neck...

The future of hunting in Africa!

Examples like these are how hunters "shoot themselves in the foot". Success is measured differently in today's society; if you don't have something physical or material to show for it then it is unsuccessful in today's world. This becomes worse when money is involved. A lot of hunters who pay...

The future of hunting in Africa!

Louis, Great post! The biggest factor in declining interest in hunting is a lack of education. I'm a young guy and I see it all the time; most people my age would prefer to play a video game or read some internet blog than have to work for something. Today's society loves instant...

    Good books?

I've been doing a little more leisurely reading lately and its time to order a few new books. I just finished "Heart of an African Hunter" by Peter Flack. What books have you guys and gals enjoyed?

How did you get interested in Safari hunting?

Actually, it started with a Roger Raglin video. I believe it was called "An American whitetail bowhunter bowhunts Africa". After that I picked up all Africa-related reading material I could find. I was around 12 when that happened and the dreaming never stopped. At 21, being a very lucky...

    Mozambique plains game?

Thank you Mike! That is some great information there and Mokore seems to be very impressive. Good luck on your sable hunt.

    Mozambique plains game?

Through my initial searches I've found that there are a few outfits in Mozambique that appear to have at least some bowhunting experience. Also, I am certainly not opposed to rifle hunting there, I'd just prefer to bowhunt. My interest in Mozambique is driven by the fact that many consider it...
