    .318 Westley Richards

For years it was difficult to get proper bullets to reload the .318 but now you can get .330 200 gr. bullets from Graf. I've yet to take game with them as it's been ages since I last safari'd but I'm quite sure that loaded up to, say, 2600 fps they would perform admirably. Eventually, I will...

    6.5x55mm for Plains Game?

I have a personal objection to trigger block safeties. I don't mean just Remington's, I don't want any of them. Papa Mauser knew what he was doing when he designed a safety that blocked the striker. That's what I like. All my rifles whether CZ, Brno, BSA, M98 or Greener all have striker...

    6.5x55mm for Plains Game?

Listen to Redleg! This is one of my pet peeves, people who spend entirely too damned much time shooting off the bench in search of the sub-MOA group from a rifle that doesn't need it. Yes, by all means, sight the rifle in for her and then have her shoot off sticks, the way game is actually...

    Calibre for West African Bushpig

Shoot, a 30-30 would do for bushpig. They aren't all that big or all that tough. Anything you'd shoot a feral hog or a European boar with is plenty for bushpig.

Yeah, why wasn't I born rich or lucky instead of such an intellectual?

The problem is making choices. If I buy a WR double rifle I won't be able to afford to take it hunting!:( If I keep going hunting, I can't afford the WR double. Decisions, decisions . . .

    What about the 300 H&H ???

Those would work just fine. In fact, you could just as well leave the 7x57 home and shoot everything with the .375. I've done it as has my partner and we took everything from bushpig up to eland with it. Still, the 7mm is a fine cartridge. I would just be sure to load fairly heavy bullets in...

    Ruger #1 .308 For Kid

The #1 will teach him to make each shot count. That's the glory of the single. The .308 will handle anything in N. America with the possible exception of moose, bison and the largest bear. None of those will be on his license at this young age. While a smaller caliber might give you a better...

    7 X 57

Being kind of old and traditional, I'm another one who favors heavy bullets in the 7x57. I've never shot a head of game in Africa over 125 yards so I really don't see the need for a flat shooting, high speed load. However, Nosler Partitions are my standard. Any rifle that I have in a caliber...

Rhino bullets 380 grains for 375 H&H Magnum

Has anyone got some load data for the 380 gr. bullets in the H&H case using common American powders? I have a couple of boxes of the bullets but don't know what loads to put behind them. Alternately, if someone is interested in the bullets, send me a PM.

    .318 Westley Richards

Gosh, Charlie, I own a .318 by Greener. Did by any chance you sell yours to Kynoch? I bought mine from them. It would be most pleasing if it turned out to be the same rifle.

    .338-06 and Africa

Given that the .338/06 is ballistically identical (for all purposes) to the sainted .318 Westley Richards and that caliber made its legendary name with 250 gr. round nose, my feeling is that the Hornady round nose at 2400 will work just fine. After all, the animals haven't changed in the last...

    .318 Westley Richards

Well, here's mine, a W. W. Greener "African Game Park Warden" model. I bought it direct from Kynoch and took it to Mozambique back in 2006. Let me tell you, the exit wounds are awesome! I replaced the original express sights with a Lyman 48 from about the same period. I love that caliber!
