    BIG Rifle .950 JDJ

I fired an 8 bore once-recoil is more push than anything. No adrenaline though, and wrong position-you have got to lean in and keep forward foot lost to rock with the gun. I didn't, ended up with a hairline fracture in collar bone. Wouldn't trust penetration-be a great pelvis or skull buster...

    .375H&H mag...sabots?

Whilst saving towards my potential future investment of a good bolt action, I will was thinking...for lighter skinned game-whitetail, antelope, and comparable species abroad...could a .270 or .243 bullet be saboted into a .375 cartridge? With a magnum capable chamber, the pressure to get it to...

    .500NE/20Ga... .375/28ga.?

That's what I am feeling at this point too-rifles are built the way they are for a reason, shotguns the same (at least doubles). The more I think about it, the more I feel I will end up with a double rifle, and then in my spare time may snag a set of donor barrels from Stoeger or Weatherby and...

    .500NE/20Ga... .375/28ga.?

I believe I may have been misunderstood...I am STARTING with a rifle action, NOT a shotgun action. I have seen double shotguns fall apart before 1,000 goose loads were run thru them, and if a gun is not recommended to fire turkey loads or slugs, I surely will not consider shooting cartridges...

    New guy

Ah HA! Finally a place I am understood....Background on the building affliciton-see, I really like eating wild game. Since the most entertaining and satisfying way to get to that point, I must hunt. In order to hunt, I must well, have a gun (though I have used my Jeep(successfully) in taking...

    Africa & Camo

Oh, dang. Well...It's all about the outlines! I have hunted birds kilted and in tweed before, and after successful kills, nobody laughed!

    Africa & Camo

Speaking from experience here in the States...You have got to evaluate your game as well. For example, I hunt deer (whitetail)-Scent control is more critical than camo, realistically. I do wear a ghillie suit, but have had deer walk within 3 feet of me due to scent precautions. Turkey on the...

    .500NE/20Ga... .375/28ga.?

Further to last...I have emailed Chaupis (see message content below) concerning a few questions I have-including this particular one...If anyone is interested, I will share their reply if and when I recieve it. "Greetings from the US! I have a few questions: 1. Would you be willing to...

    .500NE/20Ga... .375/28ga.?

20 ga., hmmm...I was concerned about the across the breech dimension, along with the availability of ammunition in countries where I would be hunting with a .375 as well, but in retrospect, I do not need to always count the 20 as being exclusively in the same settings as the .375. On the subject...

share your rifle cleaning "ritual" and products used!

For my muzzleloaders, bores and locks, I use Windex followed by Kroil. Two days after I swab with Kroil, I swab with Kroil again. For my shotguns, especially after a couple hundred rounds, I use Seafoam engine treatment, which works miracles for the plastic fouling AND any lead buildup...

    Clothing Question ACU Camo Pattern

Remember, ACU originally was designed for breaking up outlines to human eyes. Think light reflection-critters see things a bit differently, and if you end up showing up like a cluster of lightbulbs, it's bad news. The cheaper camos are imprinted on fabric with inks that almost glow in sunlight...

    Hard Cases for Rifles

Pelican. Hands down. The plane can crash, burn, and sink in the sea. The rifle will not be damaged, even if the little black box is destroyed. I would also recommend mailing some ammo to yourself if you have rifle specific loads...

    .500NE/20Ga... .375/28ga.?

Interesting. I posted to another Post the potential usage of inserts for temporary conversion of a shotgun to a rifle...My concern is the power of the shells on the gun. Shotgun actions of doubles get beat up pretty soundly by turkey and goose loads, and the barrels are, at least in my...

    New guy

Hillsboro, Illinois. Maybe I should call myself a gun"kink". I have build a couple, and am working on a couple...I still have all of my fingers! (well, 9.5-kidding!). I have and do dream of it...One day. Or one week...Or one month...

    .500NE/20Ga... .375/28ga.?

I understand Szecsei-Fuchs made an over and under rifle series (bolt action, no less-don't ask me how!)...I wonder how you would regulate these? To me, the effectiveness of a side by side is the same as artillery double impacting the same spot-opposed to the effect of two different hits, the...
