    About You:
    Avid second amendment rights advocate, NRA certified firearms instructor.
    I am a:
    • Hunter
    • Fisherman
    Member of:
    Private club on friend's land in Augusta County, Virginia
    Have you hunted in Africa?:
    No
    Number of times I have hunted in Africa:
    Zero
    My favorite African country:
    Haven't been yet, but South Africa is looking mighty inviting.
    Hunted:
    USA (Colorado, Alabama, Virginia)
    Species I have hunted in Africa:
    N/A
    My best African Trophy:
    N/A
    My favorite African trophies:
    N/A
    My preferred weapon(s):
    Depends on the game being chased, but the overall favs in my collection are:
    - Ruger M77 in 7x57mm Mauser w/Burris Eurodiamond 3-10x40mm electrodot illum. scope
    - Custom-built Czech Mauser in .257 Robert w/Nikon Monarch 3.5-10x50mm red/green illum. scope
    - Custom-built Czech Mauser in .35 Whelen w/Burris Signature Series 1.5-6x32mm electrodot illum. scope
    On the chocks to be built, my new fav... on an FN Belgian Mauser action, .280 Remington Ackley Improved, and I'm leaning towards a Burris SixX 2-12x40mm illum. scope
    What weapon(s) do you hunt with?:
    • Rifle
    • Shotgun
    My preferred optic(s):
    Leupold, Nikon, Zeiss, and Burris, but lean towards Burris.
    Gear I cannot live without:
    My Zeiss Conquest binoculars. They blow away the competition. Took them to Iraq with me and everyone wanted to borrow them.
    My best hunting tip:
    Shoot straight! (i.e., practice). Use enough gun for the job; but one you're not afraid to shoot. Too many people suffer from "magnumitis" thinking they need the biggest baddest cannon on the planet. NOT SO! Just put an adequate bullet in the breadbasket, and you'll have meat on the table every time!
    My other interests:
    Scuba diving, horsebackriding, snow skiing, flying (SEL pilot), among other things.
