I've taken 26 big 5 with 17 taken in 12 months. My recommendation would be 458 Lott for buff and above. You can shoot normal 458 win mag ammo on the buff. I do not recommend the 338, had 2, rather the 300 win mag is better. A 470/338 combo doesn't help longer range shots on big five if needed...

I just hunted 2 lion there I picked up at the Phasa auction. The day before I arrived, I found out baiting had been closed and is now illegal. This is not well known. Yes, I got 2 and did enjoy the thrill of hunting by tracking. Without baiting, success will drop.

Hmm. Seems like every PH should ask his client to get a Blaser so he doesn't get shot the second they load and forget to put on safe in the heat of the hunt. A PH may have different requirements then the Hunter.
