In one of those photos you can see the practical use of a thatch roof. You can escape through it.
Certainly hope some of the critters got to head to high ground. It looks like the people did.

at least it will rejuvenate the bush with sediment being dropped by the receding waters,and its not like these things havent happened before or will happen again. shame about the damage but thats nature.i think 2000 was the last big floods in sa, moz and zim so probably was on the cards, either that or the prayers of too many for rain were answered at one time...........

HP they are that, i just dont think its sad or a pity. it is nature replenishing and changing the land , it has been going on since the beginning of the planet.unfortunately man tries to control the rivers, but usually cocks it up and makes it worse, eg the levees on the mississipi amongst others. i have some somewhere on the computer from the luangwa where it happens more often.
