    Default Poaching in the DRC

Amongst all the bad things going on here in the DRC, one good thing did happen in regards to the war on poaching. An armed group poached a giraffe and were quickly tracked down and engaged in a firefight. Next time they will probably remember to remove the GPS collar, rather than keeping it as a souvenir!

The bastards shouldn't have survived the firefight....there shouldn't have to be a 'next' time..!
One does not hunt in order to kill; on the contrary, one kills in order to have hunted.

Spike, i am in the UN here as an unarmed observer. Most of them won't be poaching again, but these guys were part of a mayi-mayi cadre and alot better armed and numerous then usual (not so numerous now). As an aside don't believe evrything you read on the situation here, i have learned to not believe anything i hear and only half of what i see.

shame you cant assist (unless they do let you on the quiet) maybe even less numerous then. rather you than me being unarmed there. havent read that much on the situation there, but i know the drc on the zambian border north of the copperbelt seems to be booming .i see quite a few drc trucks on the great north road taking equipment up there for mines etc. dont know what you are observing, but enjoy if possible ....
