Another Rhino Tragedy
The attached article was sent to me by a SA PH friend. Please share with those you know, to bring awareness of how brutal and disgusting this war on the rhino population is by the cowardly poachers and those that employee them.

very very sad and horrendous, but as has been said on here before, what people who dont live/spend a lot of time in africa have to remember, is these things dont give a shit about doing this to each other, let alone animals..........

Thanks Willem. I actually sent it to my local news stations. Hopefully, they will take enough interest in it to do a story here in the states about the atrocities happening to the rhino's in Africa.

Sad, totally callous, how can these criminals inflict such pain ?
Once they have the horn, the least they could do is to put the animal out of its misery.

It would seem to me that a major asset in the control of this poaching problem would be the introduction of a lower tech version of some of the drones the USA has used so successfully all over the world.
No, I do not mean the armed drones just the early versions used for recon. In coordination with the ant-poaching teams this could make poaching a far more risky occupation.
And, while on that subject, I believe that the countries of Southern Africa will, at some point, need to enhance the consequence for the crime of poaching. No bail, stiffer sentences etc etc.
Finally, the citizens of Africa will have to come to the mind set that what a poacher is really doing is stealing from all the people of Africa and taking from them the very thing that makes Africa , well, Africa.
For without the unique and majestic wildlife indigenous to this region of the world, Africa, to a great extent, will cease to be.
As to the outrage that should come from such a criminal act, I, for one, cannot see much difference between poaching a rhino and taking $250,000 out of the National Treasury of a country"He even took the gramophone on safari. Three rifles, provisions for a month and . . . . Mozart"

It was in a different thread about Rhino poaching, but, someone had mentioned poisoning the horn (not a poison that would effect the animal just those who consume it), I really liked that idea.
These posts always piss me off, because we as conservationist have our hands tied so to speak. Without donating a but load of money to fund a all out, "shot on sight" campaign, or just cut the little pricks hands off if they are still alive, and leave them."That which does not kill us makes us stronger" Friedrich Nietzsche

I have always felt that public impaling sends a strong message. ASS first on a rounded, wooden horn, let gravity do it's thing. The message will be sent.

Sanctions to the marked are essentional, Thats why I support actions like poisening the horns.
