Brickburn has supplied some good info here. Remember that then there is the small factor of the Limpopo Bushbuck versus the Cape Bushbuck. Would be nice to see which one of the two gets the forum member's vote?

I am looking forward to having another go at the little buggers when with Touch Africa in Zim next week. Jonathan tells me they have good hunting for them in the bush. I did take a nice 13 incher, my first, in the Limpopo in '09 with Bosbok Safaris and PH Phil de Kock.

This is my best at 17"+ taken in Mozambique with Mokore Safaris in '07. There was no need to worry about the trophy quality of this ram. He now resides as a lifesize mount in my living room. I've been quite lucky with bushbuck taking 5 varieties of bushbuck in 6 different countries. They are one of my favorite animals to pursue.

Some fantastic bushbuck stories and pictures! I hunted the Limpopo for bushbuck, among other species. Very addicting, fun hunting the long grass for these sneaky little beautys. Got a 16" one. Would definitely hunt them again.

Wow, an EXCEPTIONAL bushbuck! . . and very old. Look how polished the horns are! More than worthy of a life-size mount!

Last August I shot my first bushbuck, in the Limpopo, which was scored by my taxidermist at SCI 42 5/8. Since I wasn't going to have any animal entered in the book, I did not get a breakdown of length and bases, just the total scores on my trophies.
He is apparently a respectable bushbuck (but I don't know what that really means). Is this an average or above average scoring??

Jaco has it. Very good buck, would place in the top 50 SCI roughly. I shot a 13 and was tickled pink! It also makes SCI, just not as high.

I shot my first Cape Bushbuck less than a month ago. The ram fooled both the land owner and my PH with the odd shape of its horns. He came in at 14 1/2".

very good ram indeed, I must admit I prefer the Chobe and Eastern Cape to the Limpopo their colour is better
IMO, I love hunting them it is probably my favourite pg species and IMO probably the prettiest.

If you hunt them during the day on foot there is almost no greater challenge.

Agreed but I think the nile bushbuck is the prettiest (for those who can afford to hunt them.)
    The journey is the reward.

I loved hunting bushbuck, sitting on the side of a hill in Eastern Cape, the daybreak chill giving me the shivers even though I had a good wool sweater and jacket on. It was great sport glassing the ridges and hillsides waiting for one of those beautiful antelope to step out into a small opening in the brush. I'd spot a couple of females, motion to the PH who would shrug me off, he'd seen them long before I did. The anticipation was much like whitetail hunting except it was ground level and, if you wound one, well, I hear that is when things get "interesting".
