Hello from southern Indiana
Hello everyone! I am 29 and am starting to plan my first safari. It won't be until 2014 so hopefully I have given myself enough time to get everything worked out. I am looking forward to all the help and stories from the other members on here.

Welcome left hunter! Lots of great people here to help you out and lots of good info on this site. This is the best forum on the internet without doubt. The planning really is half the fun of the trip so enjoy it. You can find all you need right here but if you have a chance go to the Dallas Safari Club show later this week. OR next Jan. You'll be glad you did. Just allow enough time to do it all. 2 days is barely enough. Your first safari will be remember-able but so will the next and all the rest as you will find out that there is no such thing as a once in a life time African safari.. I said that and so have many of my friends-all to their mistake. All have gone back.
IF YOU GO ONCE-YOU WILL GO AGAIN-DEAL WITH IT

Welcome to AH.
Depending on where you decide to go, you have the time necessary to get your items put together.
The list is broken into groups and time periods to work on getting them accomplished. The first time usually takes the longest as your shots require a spread out time period. and some times the shots have to be ordered in.
Have fun and as others have said we are here to assist you along the way.James Grage - New Mexico

Thanks to all for the warm welcome! I hope you all had a fun and mostly memorable night. My hunt will just be for plains game and I am thinking Namibia. The 2 animals I really want badly are kudu and oryx. Other than that i figure iwill just go with the flow and see what happens. I am planning on going for 8 days. My dad and possible my brother will be going as well. We will all be rifle hunting and I don't want to hunt over waterholes out of a blind. I would prefer more of spot and stalk style hunting. Thanks again

Sounds like a good plan. Namibia or South Africa would both be great for the animals listed be sure to let the Outfitter know that there may be 3 of you, they may give you the small group rate saving you a few more bucks. Good luck and just let us know if you need any questions answered we would be glad to help.

I went to SA in the middle of March, no one else in camp since it's very early in the season, but it worked magnificently for us. They said the odds of getting bushbuck were slim to none, due to high grass, but we killed 2 very nice ones, along with everything else on our list, and some things that weren;t.
