My main question was about gun cases for the trip. likely I'll be flying somewhere every 2 years.
Need one to hold 2 scoped rifles. I am now considering 3 choices.
One would be a Pelican.
Second Option is the Cabela's Bullet Proof Heavy Duty
But noticed someone posting a Tuffpak that looked even better.

Took the cabela's one over made it over OK, but on the way back it took some damage. I'll be able to have it fixed and probably get several more trips out of it but I am not sure that the repairs are not going to be a one time thing.
I'd really lean toward the Pelican, or a Stormcase. Have not had a Tuffpack but they look like you would have to pack carefully so you can pull the rifles out to read the serial numbers.

Welcome to AH. I lived in Mississippi for a bit over two years, lots of good folks down that way. Ya'll don't know how to play football too well, though...(LSU Class of 1976). Does the name Bert Jones still strike terror in the hearts of Ol' Miss or MSU fans?
As you must be aware , since you joined after monitoring for a while, that there are folks on here with lots of knowledge and experience. I'm short on knowledge, long on opinion so all I can offer is my first trip to SA last year was incredible. I hope your's will be, too.

56-39-4 record. take away the times LSU cheated, I'd say they're about even. Just kidding.
Bert who?
Does the name Johnny Vault still make you guys cringe? During Vault's tenure, Ole Miss held a very large edge. The series became lopsided after his retirement/death.
I actually, like LSU btw. 2nd favorite college team. actually, the only other team I care about.
I would add, though, that Ole Miss produced some good product over the years. Eli just won his second SuperBowl, afterall.
LSU- no team I'd rather beat. But no team I'd rather win when playing anyone but Ole Miss.

Jerry I grew up in Brookhaven and Clinton. I saw your question about the guncase. I have a tuffpack that has made several trips to Africa. I really like it and would recommend it. Easy to access, can stuff a few clothes into it along with your rifles in soft cases, easy to move around and doesn't scream guncase while going through the airport.

thanks David, I feel like I am leaning toward the Tuffpak because of what you and others have said about it. Also there video is impressive.
But, another development. I was talking with my PH today ironing out the final stuff and I am getting a little excitedly stirred up. I talked about my desire for a future archery trip, and next thing I know I am now thinking about carrying a bow on this trip along with my rifle. so, unless 2 guns and a bow can fit in one of these cases, looks like I'll be buying 2 cases. lol.
If I do it, I'll be Looking at shooting a couple of the smaller animals with the bow and a couple of larger ones with a rifle. my son will use rifle only.

The Mannings are an incredible family as well as excellent football players. And Mr. Vault was a force of his own. That said, if worry about cheating is an issue, never play cards or football with an LSU Tiger.
What are your primary "want to get" animals, your "hope to get" animals and your "would take if they came along" animals? And I may have skipped over it but do you care to share where you are heading.?

South Africe, I'm booking with KMG .
I'm mostly looking at Gemsbok and Zebra with my rifle. I'll choose for sure the other 2 when they step out in front of my bow, likely impala or something similar.
Matt's desire is Kudu, wilderbeast, warthog, and impala or something similar.
Marius has also offered to take us on a nuisance predator hunt one night, if we want to, for jackel, brown hyenia, etc. which sounds like fun.
my wife and i plan to go back in 2 years, 3 at the latest.

wife is already demanding we go back. actually she and I were looking at next year and she pretty much told me that she was most impressed with KMG because of their website, but she knew I'd need to check around. turns out, KMG is who I chose. With Matt's college graduation, we thought it'd be an awesome thing to do and she ok'd it as long as it doesn't cost her her trip to africa.
I have a good wife.

I have to agree with every pro and con to this thread. First off, I would like to make this clear (as I have posted in other threads) I would not be involved in this kind of hunt. NOW, "secondly" to...
