24 Hours from leaving on my first African Hunt!!!!

Hi Folks

I don't know if any of you saw a cancellation hunt that Louis offered From Spiral Horn Safaris back in May here on Africa Hunting, but I grabbed it! I've been a whitetail hunter, gun and bow, for 25 years in the midwest. I've been dreaming about hunting in Africa, but it was one of those "someday" things. In March, I started thinking, "What am I waiting for?" So I started researching. Then I found Spiral Horn. I called my best hunting buddy and said c'mon, let's just DO IT. So here we are. Just a little bit from leaving on what promises to be a GREAT 10 day hunt. Frankly, I don't think I'll get any sleep tonight or on the plane. I can't wait to add "hunted South Africa" to my profile. Wish me luck, guys, off we go! :bighello:

Welcome to AH ladempsey! Wow that's exciting news, I'm so glad that you finally are going to make that dream come true. You certainly have chosen a great outfitter and I know that you are going to have an excellent hunt with Louis. I am sure that you won't get much sleep but we are here all night if it gets too bad and you need some relief... Can't wait to hear all about it when you return, would love to see pictures too. Well, there should be lots of pictures. I bought a new camera and a big zoom lens just for the occasion. Not sure how it all works yet, but I will be playing with it.
And yes, Louis has been just great, patiently answering all our questions, making sure everything is all set. I just know we will never be the same after this.

The most fun has been regular people's reactions when it comes up that I'm going on vacation. They say, "Where". I say, "Going to Africa to go hunting." Then they look at you like, WOW, you can see them thinking that nobody they know does that. Then they look at you very differently. And I'm all smiiling and excited. It's been really fun planning and getting ready. Now we are trying to think of ways to slow down the time during the 10 days because we know it will go too fast.
