I am offering hog and free range Aoudad hunts on around 60,000 acres in Northwest Texas (Garza County). The land consists of Plateau, Mesquite flats and river bottom country, with a small mix of agriculture to boot!
Spot and stalk is the primary hunting method. Shot distance will range from 120-200 yards.
There are several permanent blinds on the ranch for the hunters that are less mobile or that may want to take a break from spot and stalk hunting....we really take pride in trying to provide you with best all round Texas hunting experience! We are happy to cater to rifle, muzzleloader or archery clients.
We have a very limited number of truly World Class Aoudad (AKA Barbary Sheep) yes that's correct we will be targeting 30inch plus with only 2-4 hunts per year. Over the last several years we have lightly hunted our Aoudad with most trophies in the 28-32 category.

I just wrote a long reply and it disappeared. Okay again. I got into camp late in the afternoon and Dan wanted me and the guide Dave sit in on a wheat field below some cliffs. We waited there with the wind gusting to over 30 mph. Finally three sheep came out onto the field and two where about the same size. We watched them fout over two hours and decide the one with the hair rubbed off his side by his horn was the better of the two. Dave said I could wait and look over some more but he thought this sheep would be 30 ins. or close to it. I told him I would take the shot if he would come within 150 yards because i was worried about the wind. I finally move with in that distance and the wind slowed a bit and I toke the shot. The three rams ran into the mesquite and we could see that two had stopped in there but did not know if one was the one I shot at. We waited about 30 min and then move in for a look. Two rams ran off and mine was laying there nose up dead. I was pretty relieved as I was afraid that maybe I had hit him to far back. I had hit him in the shoulder and the 180 grain nosler partition had passed through him. I could not believe he took a hit like that and ran that far say about 60 yards. I was using a 300 ruger compact mag. with the same batch of loads that I used in Africa. We went to hunting ferel hogs than and I did see several more nice rams in the cliffs while hunting hogs. By the was them pigs are good eating and the rancher hated them.

Hey Bluey,
They get up around 300lbs. As far as eating...quarter them up and ice them down as soon as possible. When you get home, bone and remove all membrane from the meat. Take off your boots and smoke them for eight hours. Remove from heat and slice in thin strips Serve with lots of beer. They will.be better than the Aoudad....oh yea...mix the Aoudad meat with the dogs food. Make sure he doesn't choke.

I tried a couple steaks last night of the traeger grill it tasted good but was tuff. I have never liked much wild game grilled through. I decided to grind all of it but did can eight pints in the pressure canner I know that will be tender. I made a meat loaf today and it was about as good of meat loaf that I have eaten. I think it is the tomato juice that makes it takes out any gamey tast from wild game. As far as auodad goes it is just as good or better than any deer that is around the same age. I do like them ferel hogs that I shot better than store bought pork.
