Watch this kid shoot
Hi all members. Just as a parting shot (pardon the pun) for 2011, a very short clip of an 11-year-old planting a springbuck with one shot. .308 rifle, 170 yards, standing over sticks in a howling wind. I call this good shooting. Enjoy and may you all have a beautiful festive season.

While the springbuck dropped to the shot...
I would have liked to seen a slow motion of bullet impact with the animal...

With a stiff cross wind slow motion bullet placement would show point of impact. Everyone get lucky at times in a stiff crosswind.James Grage - New Mexico

Unfortunately a springbuck is rather small and at 170yrds you can't really zoom in much more to show impact shot. With regard to the wind, I think the lad did well to keep himself steady, standing up over sticks. After all, he's only 11. He also shot a zebra, warthog, blue wildebeest and impala. All good shots except for the impala that needed more than one shot.

My hat is off to him! I also like the fact that he sits for the photo with his bolt open. It's a piece of safety that was drilled into me relentlessly, but I don't see it much nowadays. This young man definitely has made a good start as a hunter!

Good Lad..the shot has all the characteristics of a spinal hit.
One does not hunt in order to kill; on the contrary, one kills in order to have hunted.
