Hunting Argentina?
Hi Guys,
Sorry I`ve not been around for a while!
Has anyone ever hunted Argentina?? I`ve been invited to hunt a Mouflon hybrid ram and some wingshooting for a few days in August.
I will be taking my .375 and using whatever bullets I can find, not sure of availability out there?
If anyone`s got any tips for me on the hunting style or just the travel there I would appreciate it.
All the best,
Charly[COLOR=#9b6019]Shavesgreen[B]

Thanks Monish,
I certainly let you know how it goes. As it`s an invite I don`t want to pester the guy with too many questions so will do some digging around on the net. Not sure if the .375 is overkill for a sheep but if I run into a big buff on the hunt I want to be prepared![COLOR=#9b6019]Shavesgreen[B]

Hi Charly,
What make is your .375 H&H, ?? Its a ample & a perfect caliber for all the hunting across the globe, for sheep take 235 grain loads, and if you encounter a buff give it a 300 solid or a silver tip treatment.
Happy hunting !!!!

The rifle is a Remmy 700 stainless/synthetic, I don`t get a lot of chance to practice with it in the UK due to the fact I`m only allowed to shoot at government approved ranges and use solids only. The powers that be deem this rifle too powerful for hunting in my region. I will get a few shots in off sticks before I go but I find it quite manageable despite it being a relatively light rifle. I have used 300`s and 270`s through it and found they group very well at 150 yrds so should be fine to about 250 for hunting purposes. I will have to purchase my ammo on arrival so I hope there are some 235 softs available...
Cheers,
Charly[COLOR=#9b6019]Shavesgreen[B]

Charly,
Thats a fine rifle you possess . Its a irony you cant test fire your rifles elsewhere except the govt. ranges .235 grainers should be available there .
Have a great hunt and take some record class heads.
Happy Hunting

Shavesgreen, any updates on this hunt? What part of Argentina did it take place?

Baydog,
To tell the truth the hunt didn`t happen in the end, I just had too many bookings in the UK to get away. The offer is still open for me so if I ever find a 10 day opening in my diary I will be straight out there! I have also sold the .375 in favour of a .404
However I have just returned from and Ibex hunt in Spain, what a great place to hunt - great people too...

Be prepared for a $140 tax on US citizens once you get off the plane...other than that it's a great destination

Hopefully don't have to worry about that, I'm Canadian. Is it specific to US citizens?

I won't endorse the facts here..but americans pay 140 and it's good for like 10 years.

I wanted to fish Dorado down there but it's big $$$$$$$$$ for most of the places I've checked out so far. If anyone knows of a place to fish for a reasonable price let me know. (2-3 day add on to a business trip).
