I agree that women are going to be the next big barrage in the hunting world. It's nice to sit down and watch a hunting show with a nice looking lady on & seeing a hunting experience from their side of the story. With recent shows of She safari & the women of the NRA it was great seeing their adventures in Africa and their take on the whole experience!
Having no sons & 3 daughters I wondered if I was ever going to have a hunting companion, but daughter # 3 at the age of 8 started tagging along with me to Hand gun silhouette matches & before long she was shooting pistols. Then some of the other competitors started bring youth rifles & stuff to shoot & before you know it she wanted to hunt. It's pretty special being their for their first deer , than the first buck. It's different to say the least! I watched as tears were shed for the animal, something I didn't understand or maybe the emotion never was in me. It's special & I'm glad to have experienced it even though my Dad said then she shouldn't be hunting! Well I don't know if she does that still, I guess I never asked, but she certainly would have shed a lot of tears as she has shot a fair amount of animals in her 24 years of life!!
Her roughest problem was with boy friends! Rachel's a damn good shot & the boys didn't like it when they got beat by her! It should just make things better - common grounds & a little friendly competition should make a good relationship! One of my favorite things now since my daughter got married & moved on in life was taking my lady friend from work to the shooting range. She saw a few of my trophies sitting on the shelf in the office & asked if I would take her out & teach her to shoot a gun. That brought back some great memories of myself & my daughter & Mindy really enjoys shooting & is always asking when we can go shoot again, and she is getting pretty good herself!!
Don't be afraid to take that female out shooting or hunting, you may have a special friend that really likes it & possibly a friend forever. Just remember teach them slow use mild calibers & guns. Invest a couple dollars in a recoil pad or a youth stock as women are a little different in build. You only get 1 first chance & you certainly want to make it enjoyable! A bad experience probably means another lost hunter!!
