Default Anyone hunted Ibex in Spain?

Just got back from SCI in Vegas and meet some great people from Spain and was thinking about going there with another couple. But man its seems crazy expensive and with fees for everything. Looking for info if any of you have been there and have any tips. My buddy and I both think its best just to go back to Africa but the wives really have their hearts set on Spain.
    ANything will help!
    Thanks

Right wswat, I am from Spain, and I hunt in Africa, it s that bad.

An Ibex will set you back from 3.000 to 6.000 Euros, or more, it depends on trophy size, and that s a lot of money.

If you can afford it, go for it, it s great hunting, otherwise, come and spend a few days on holiday with your wives. Then we have daily direct flights to Johannesburg

Haven't hunted Ibex in Spain. I'd like to though. Like mentioned it is not cheap. A year or two ago I was doing some digging. Seems like I found a company that offered a trip for 14 days and all 4 species of Spanish Ibex for around $20,000 or so. More than I can afford. Sounded like fun and I wished that I could go. Bruce

    Hi wswat,

I was in Spain for the first week in Jan this year. I hunted Beceite Ibex on a three day hunt, it was great fun! The people are very welcoming and I had a fluent translator with me all the time so conversations were good but I wish I had learnt more basic phrases before going. I will go back and hunt a Gredos Capra very soon. The food in Spain is ecellent and the accommodation too, if your wives like shopping Madrid will be expensive for you! Late Nov and early Dec are the times to be there if you want a big trophy.

Let me know if you want more info and package prices, I did a lot of research prior to the trip which may help you make your mind up.

For a country that is suffering so much economically you would think there would have been an adjustment.
You may have to bite that bullet, since you let your wife see pictures of Spain.

Nyati might have an idea for you though.
Practice whispering before you leave for Africa!

The middle and lower classes are suffering economically, the rich still have money, and they can afford ibex in Spain or elephant in Africa, so there is no adjustment.

I have hunted Spain twice for all for ibex and a few other species. I am going back next year for 2 chamois and the Balerean Boc. Going for the Capra super 20.

I took my wife once. She enjoyed it, but it was not her ideal vacation.

Europe and most of Spain is expensive. I cringe over the VAT and size charges. Your best bet if your heart is set on going is to try to find a donation hunt at one of the SCI chapter dinners. Get your dailies for a low cost and add the trophies you want.

The hunting in Spain I found relatively easy. Most animals are shot on the first day as the game keepers typically know the areas the game is in. I have turned down big animals because they were out of my budget.

I have not hunted with him, but Ken Wilson who does the Sportsman on film offers the least expensive Spanish hunt I have seen. I have not booked a hunt through him, but I spoke to a reference 2 years ago and they checked out. You might want to follow up with him.

    Good luck.

    Hi

I have some good contacts in Spain.

If you hunt Bronze / Silver medal Ibex it's not that bad price wise.

Also a friend of mine has a big area where you could shoot some Boar and Red Deer and maybe able to wangle you an Ibex as well.

Email me and I will start some enquiries for you.

    All best
