HS Precision Stocks?
Hi there gents
Me again!
As you know, i live in South Africa, and looking for some assistance from my friends from across the pond...
I'm looking to purchase a new Winchester Mod70 Sporter, but would like to replace the stock with an HS Precision, synthetic straight sporter stock - the Pro2000.
Has anyone used one before? Whats your impression of them?
Also, it's a seeerious hack to try get them into SA, and would the next gent coming over for a hunt be willing to bring one over for me, if i transferred the money across to you to purchase it for me?
Thanks a mil guys!
Marshy

These are very good stocks. The only one I have used comes on the Remington PSS sniper rifle. It has the aluminum bedding block as well and its a great system, very stable. If I was headed your way... but alas I am not.

This is a major problem for many of us outside the US when we want to buy something made in US.
Most of the time, no regulations stop them from shipping internationally, but they don't want to do it.
Many don't accept credit cards from countries outside US or Canada too.
And many of them don't use PayPal.
I am not able to see how this is good business policy.
They would sell hunting stuff for hundreds and probably thousands of dollars to me if they changed, and I am sure there are thousands like me around.
I already buy about 50% of my hunting stuff from US and it would be much more if more would ship internationally.

Hi marshy, I have had an HS Precision stock on my Weatherby Mark V 300 since 2002...They are very strong & stable. They are also comfortable to carry & use. You will not be disappointed at all. They are an excellent choice for all weather any climate hunting..

Marshy, why don't you purchase a Winchester Model 70 Stainless Synthetic. It has a Bell & Carlson stock with an aluminium bedding chassis. These are also good stocks & very similar to the HS Precision stock. It is fitted with a Decelerator Pad which is better than the HS Precision Ultra Mag Pad. It is blackish in colour. They can be camo colored or painted. If you don't like the matte stainless look you can do the same or do what I did to my Weatherby MkV & get a Black Oxide coat on it or get it Cerakoted. Mate there is a solution to to your problem, make it work for you. You will be very happy with the new Winchester Model 70 , despite what a few old farts & traditionalists say. The truth is, it is the very best Model 70 yet in every respect. I have a new sporter in 30.06 & a new Safari Express in 375 Ruger with a 26" barrel. These are both beautiful rifles & a lot nicer than my old pre 64 270.

A bit late to the thread and a newbie to this forum to boot. So here goes. My problem with HS Precision is not perfromance related but political. Lon Horiuchi, the FBI sniper that murdered Vicky Weaver has been sited as a reference by HS Precision. You can do as well and maybe better with McMillan stocks, in Phoenix, AZ. I believe that McMillan deliver internationally, but do not know that for sure. There are several fiberglass stock suppliers here in the US, one need not restrict themselves to HS Precision. My $.02, YMMV. Cheers and happy hunting.

Well that really sucks! I am surprised that a stock maker or any company would have such a toxic name associated with their product.

Scott,
I dont think anybody said it was HS's fault. The other companies you mention dont use criminal behavior to promote their products. I dont really know if HS associates Horiuchi with their product even. Just saying if they do, its stupid. I think you're analogy is off base.

Have you looked into McMillan? They may be the best stock maker out there right now as far as synthetic is concerned.

I have a couple rifles with HS Precision stocks with Remington actions. They shoot unbelievably well. Group size in the sub 1/2 range.
