Multi Tool Knife
I'm looking to replace my old gerber multi tool as it's seen better days. I've searched the net and was surprised to see how many companies now sell them and the variety of features. My question is, does anybody know of a multi tool that has a decent sized, sturdy, knife blade and not the awkward, small blade found on the older tools? I noticed the Buck but it's made in China and would rather not buy it. Thanks in advance.

I would suggest the Leatherman Wave. The blade is bigger than the blades in the original multitools. I've liked it so much, when I lost my old one last year, I bought another one just like it. If you don't like the Wave, they have several other models to choose from. The company is based in Portland, Oregon and I think they are manufactured there as well.
I had a case go bad too and the customer service was excellent.

The only complaint I had with the Wave was with the original cordura case. The velcro closure wore out too quickly. A call to customer service and they replaced it with the leather version with the snap. The tool itself is top notch, I don't go anywhere (including church) without it.
One of the best features (IMO) is the one handed access to the knife blade. This comes in very handy.

Hey Baydog,
I only use the Leatherman Charge Titanium. It is a little more expensive tha the wave but a great multi tool. Has got everything you need and also when something breaks they replace the part at no charge. The last one I send in they replaced whole tool with a new one free. Service is excellent!

Hey baydog
I like my wave and also like the charge. They are both available in Canada at Cabelas in Winnipeg. I tink they have free shipping this week. Hold on to your old gerber and give it as a gift to one of your trackers next time you go to africa. They fellows seem to like them and can seldom afford them for themselves.
Cheers, Mike

Good advice, thanks for the input. I'll be checking out the different models of leatherman. Thanks again.
