Russell boots
ok guys. I'm slowly getting my stuff together for an African Safari and since guns are out the way..I'm working on boots. Iv'e heard a lot about Courteney and Russell boots on this site. Iv'e read most the post. I wear anywhere from a size 8 to 9 1/2 depending on style and mfg. Do any of you guys know if Russell boots run a little larger for their sizing. Reason I ask is I bought a pair of Russell PH's that say size 8. I usually wear size 8 1/2 in most shoes. I bought these on line used twice for half the price of new ones. The ad said they run a little larger. Whats your experience with Russell boots in relation to sizing? Thanks.

Russell make their boots according to custom measurements, I just had another pair ordered in Reno the Thula Thula ph boot.
I'll have them in about 6 weeks.

Hi jaco take it you got home ok
about the russell boots about 6 years ago at sci my friend and myself ordered a pair each. he tried on a demo pair in his size and ordered from that spec. i had all the measuring of my feet done and ordered my custom fit pair. when they arrived his off the shelf pair fit perfectly, but my custom made pair were so tight i could hardly get them on even with the thinnest socks i could find let alone the ones i wore when being measured. i had to use leather stretching liquid and work my fist inside the boots to stretch them ,and then more stretching while i wore them , which i could only do for a few minutes at a time as they were too tight. after doing this over a period of time i eventually got them so i could wear them comfortably with thin socks, and i have to admit that the effort was worth it as they are very comfortable now and i have used them on some long walks after buff with no problems. one thing i would say is get the speed lacing tops , as mine dont have them and they are a pain as you have to unlace them halfway to get them on and off ,then re thread the laces again each time. i have both courteney selous boots and russells , the courteneys i wear more, but the russells are better with the high ankle with tight fit that stops grass seeds and other rubbish getting into your boots ( ankle gaiters solve that problem with the courteneys). either make will be good , your choice...

My feet are dissimilar enough that buying shoes off the shelf is always tough. They are either to tight on one foot to loose on the other. So I did the home measurment system that Russell supplies. this is definately a two person job and thankfully my wife was patient enough to do the measurements will I stood still.
I also wear orthodics in my shoes, so this was taken into account as well. For those of us who have "special needs" feet, the Russells have been fantastic. I ordered the Joe's special PH, and really love them. I have had them about 6 years now, (safaris) and other than being dirty, and the soles being slightly worn, they are good to go for another 6 years. My foot comfort is very important to me, and the Russells have worked out great.John Crimi

Well I have had 3 different pair of russells...Prickley pear bird shooters, mountain PH's, and some light sude chukka with a gumlight minimalist sole. Well, I am a slow learner. The bird shooters I have are great, I love them no questions ask...the PH's have been back twice and still do not fit my foot...good boots just do not fit my foot...the chukka's are somewhere in the middle, I would have done the same if I would have just bought a pair of Clark Wallabees off the shelf and saved $155 dollars a pair. I love the idea of American made hunting shoes---but IMHOP Russells are spotty in their quality. Get a pair of the Courtney trackers---or a pair of Clarke Wallabees--and you might be happier in the long run...I know

Well, the lord has sent me another sign that I should indeed go on safari. The size eight boots came in today and these Russells fit my feet like a glove. Honestly, they wouldnt fit any better if they were custom ordered. I just plain got lucky.

Well..they say to take two pairs of boots with you..Tom....I found another pair of Russell PH's in size 8 D again on site..I bought them too. I know they will fit because of previous pair bought writing this thread. I have two almost new pair for the price of one new pair...so if these fit like the pair I just bought..I'm done. Guess I'm lucky to have little feet.

Thing about it is....after checking all sites I know of...there's not another Pair out there in My size. It's almost like these two pair showed up just for lil ole me.. ( I wish ). Mom said I was special...but I don't think it related to boots..
