Pursuit of the Pith
I'll be attending a safari shoot tomorrow here in Phoenix. There will be various "charges" by animal targets with a scoring system. First time for me to go to one of these. The winner of this friendly contest apparently is rewarded with a Pith helmet. That alone makes me think this will be fun.

My M70 in .375HH. I went to the range yesterday and those 300gr A-Frames are just accurate as ever. I tried a new (to me anyway) technique for shooting big bores. I used my shooting hand to firmly pull the rifle into my shoulder while somewhat pulling on the gun with my left hand. Worked really well and made the .375 seem like a .270 or less. I was pretty impressed. I'll put it into practice some more tomorrow.

Well I'm still in pursuit of the Pith. There were 13 shooters at the event and I place a meager 6th place. I just blew the first two of five stations. Making it worse I decided to bring a monopod that I bought a few years ago and rarely used. I don't plan on using it much after yesterday. Bipod or tripod shooting sticks are the way to go. Oh well, it was a fun day and I learned a few things.

Well Phil, Look at this way. You placed in the top half instead of the bottom half, you had fun and Pith helmets are silly looking anyway!

Well I cannot fault you there! Been wanting one of those myself. Great rifle in a classic round! Might even wear a Pith Helmet when I shoot it! LOL!!
