How big is this kudu?
I've been getting lots of pictures from my outfitter trying to convince me he has big kudu and this one really has me going. Was wondering how big you guys think this kudu is.

Damn big. He has to be mid to high 50's, easily. Might even be upper 50s.
I know where that came from but won't say anything!

I am going to guess around 50 to 54 inches.
While wide a side photo would help give a better estimate...James Grage - New Mexico

here's a 55" kudu I killed in the limpopo a few years back.
55 kudu.JPG
If you compare the two you can see they both point out at the top and have tall horns however the kudu thats still alive has much deeper curls. I'm going to bet he is well over 55" but thats my opinion. Let me find his side view.

Sorry James, I think he has to be bigger than your guess! He does have nice curls and the tops are pretty long. He might not be over 60 but he sure has to be over 55, in my opinion.

tap,
Put this big S.O.B. down and put his nose in the dirt, take some photo's and put a tape on those horns, then I'll guess the size of this monster. Have to agree with TOM, he has to be over 55 inches."That which does not kill us makes us stronger" Friedrich Nietzsche

well unfortunately I won't have my chance at this guy for another year. I just like to get peoples opinions on kudu sizes in order to help me to see where I stand and what I'm missing. The way I see it is that the horns are long. The first outward kick is wide and drops down deep before curling. This is what I always notice in big kudu. next his first and second curls on both sides appear to be very deep curls. His last curl at the top where his tips kick out are normal but have good length and aren't short in legth for a kick out. If he had a little more depth to the 3rd curl I would say he was a 63" kudu. However Right now my guess would be 59 to 60????? Whats would you guys say on an indepth analysis of the fine bull?

My 1st thought and highly unqualified opinion was 58". I would ground judge that one.

T, I would not be bothered with this one. Not even big enough for little T.
You should look for a much bigger one and leave that one for someone more deserving.
I'll agree on the fine bull part. Rowland for sure.

I'd call him 56" and probably get an extra pat on the back for under calling him!

Those wide kudu's seem a lot bigger than what they end up being in the end. There are not huge curls on him...he's 55 to 57. Very nice kudu!!!

You sure were getting the whole experience. Go Away birds, blown stalks, flighty critters, beer and coffee. Not a canned hunt by any stretch. Damn I hope he got some pictures of that...
