Hunting Benin
Club Faune organizes your customized hunting trip in Benin, West Africa.
We've been organizing safaris in Benin for 20 years in the Poga hunting zone, located to the Northwest of the country on the border of Pedjari National Park. In May 2004, the Benin government renewed our lease for another 10 years (until 2014), permitting us to really invest ourselves in the protection and development of this superb zone of almost 200,000 acres.
This bushy savannah territory is rich in buffalos and Roan Antelopes. Club Faune shot 10 buffalos out of the top 30 on SCI's West Africa list, which speaks to the quality of trophies found in this zone. The other animals we are allowed to hunt are Lion, Hippopotamus, Western Kob, Western Hartebeest, Nagor Reedbuck, Sing-Sing Waterbuck, Harnessed Bushbuck, Oribi, Western Bush Duiker, Red Flanked Duiker, and Warthog.
Regarding lion hunting, the Benin government gives out very few quotas. This region has the unique trait of having very large lions that quite often possess a mane that is relatively large for Western Africa. These lions are hunted only through tracking. Our professional hunters are assisted by exceptional teams of trackers who will surprise you with the quality of their tracking. This hunt is athletic and requires good physical condition.
Lodging is secured at the "Villa Pompidou". This large house was constructed within the hunting zone and in the heart of the bush in 1972 for the visit of President Pompidou. The house was recently refurbished and has 5 large bedrooms with air conditioning and private bathrooms, as well as a small pool, making it a truly original and unique lodging in Africa.
Hunting season : from the beginning of January to the end of May.
Here are some pictures from past hunting seasons in Benin... Enjoy!
