Limpopo this 2012 hunting season
I'm taking my son to Safari this August in the Limpopo. Wondering if anyone had a scouting report? We're looking for Kudu, Blue Wildebeest and some smaller plains game.
A buddy of mine went to Nambia a few years back only to find out the Kudu herds had been decimated by disease in the region he hunted.
Just wanted to start a thread and see if anyone has been there/is there and knows how it is starting to shape up for this hunting season.
I'll be huntin with Nic with Madala Safaris.
Thanks!

You should have no problem hunting/sighting the game you have indentified. Practice those shooting skills off the sticks, and getting set up to shoot from different positions. Good luck with your hunt.

Ethan, you are likely referencing "Kudu Rabies", at least how it was described to me.
As with everything, there are swings in wild populations as a natural process.
Rabies is endemic throughout most of Africa.
The WHO Rabnet was shut down because the information was unreliable for under reporting. So, who really knows about outbreaks of Rabies.
Looking at their gallery and seeing the first TWENTY pictures are of Kudu Bulls. I don't think there is an issue with Kudu being extirpated by disease.
Your hunt is booked, wrong timing for asking questions about game density now.
Go have fun. Take lots of pictures and write up a hunt report for us.Practice whispering before you leave for Africa!
A Legend in my own mind!

Ethan,
My brother and a friend hunted with Nic last year and did not have a problem with quantity or quality of animals. I think they took 17 or 18 animals between the 2 of them. He actually spoke so highly of him that I have booked my first African Safari with NIC for July with my wife.
When I return I will post a report and let you know how it was. I know it will be short notice but seeing as you have already booked your safari it won't really matter.
I really don't think there will be a problem as everybody i have talked to have had nothing but great things to say about Nic and his hunting area.

I hunted with Nic last year. He'll work hard to get your animals for you. I have nothing but good things to say and my wife and I had a good hunt. I understand he has a couple of good properties to hunt this year as well. Please post a hunt report when you return.

Ethan,
Just returned from my hunt with Madala Safaris. My wife and I had a great time and an awesome experience. Nic was a great host and I got all the animals on my list as well as my wife shot a very nice warthog. I will post a report and some pics up but I just got my computer back today.
I will say that you will have a great time hunting and should not have a problem getting your animals. Nic will work hard to get you what you want. I shot a Kudu that was beyond my expectations. The lodging was great as well and the wildgame meat was cooked perfectly.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
Practice shooting off the sticks is the biggest thing I could say as I learned my lesson on the first day. HA.
