Another giant sable
I don't know if you guys remember my post on here last year about the sable that I killed but I shot a 48" sable in zambia. It was on a 6000 acre high fence ranch but it was an incredibly exciting hunt with the rut going on and all. It took me 4 days to find this guy as the grass was over 10 feet tall but the wait was worth it. My ph told me I was shooting at about a 43 inch bull. When all was said and done I had a 48" sable on the ground. My guide was a bit astonished at the sable we took and wasn't aware he had such a large sable in the area. The next day before we drove back to the lusaka airport I went for one final game drive. What happened next still haunts me. The only area where the grass is missing for hundreds of yards was a sable running full speed ahead. I stopped my ph and told him the sable next to our truck was undoubtedly larger than the one I shot. He agreed and I took several photos. Well 2 months ago my ph got an opportunity with his camera to take a quick photo of the same sable again so I thought I would share it with you guys and see what your thoughts are on this sable.
Phil is only selling one sable on quota this year as he only has 170 sable and says he wants only true trophy hunting as his goal. Needles to say I bought the quota once I saw this monster and am hoping my wife can find this old boy granted he doesnt break his horn or die.
So what are your thoughts on this guy. Is he a giant or am I just a bit partial to these black beauties?

Certainly a fine looking animal. Difficult to really judge it by one pic but from this angle I doubt its any bigger than your 48 incher, which is a monster in itself.

Shavegreen, he'll just have to take it and smile. Which he will.
I noticed he only shared the fact that their was a larger one running around after he booked the hunt for little T.
Freind's hmmm...
Good luck to Terra and I do hope it just beats yours by a 1/4 inch T. It is in the neighbourhood for sure.Practice whispering before you leave for Africa!

He's nice for sure. Maybe it's bigger. I'd like to see one that is loops in big circle back to his body.

About the only thing more amazing and stunning than a sable is a leopard. Truly amazing animals.
Now please quit posting pics like this because it just makes we want to shoot one in 2014!
