Made our decision and my first African Hunt will be with Spiral Horns in May 09, 2012
What a hard choice to make with so many great guys on this site sending me great information but in the end we selected Louis and his Spiral Horns Company for my first hunt in Africa. I will be joined by 3 family members of a great company were I take care of their aviation needs.
So first a big thanks to all & this site that educated me on Africa Hunting crash course style
So 14 day hunt where I be after the Spiral Horn grand slam add Nyla, bushbuck & lioness. I just love those animals well the problem is I love them all but I am sure that something may give us a WOW look at that one and change. I really want a big Kudu Gray Ghost.
My buddy will be going after Cape & Big ole black maned lion, the rest are still fine tuning their list.
I am bringing my Rem Sendro 300 RUM and Rem XCR 375 H&H which is restocked with Bell & Carlson Medallion, both are customized by myself with action, bedding & etc. It seems that most folks frown on the Rem 700 on here but they have served me well hunting for many years and so I going with bring what you know to shoot mode. Plus increases my shooting funds LOL
I am thinking about changing the open sights on the 375 heck not much left but the 700 action and barrel anyway
I really cannot say enough about Louis's attention to detail & communication. Man he can answer questions that I had not thought to ask, so I will try and post up a great hunt when I am done.
So looks like I got 4 months of planning, reloading and asking more questions so hope you guys do not get to bored with me
well off to find a flight and think about sights, maybe a new scope for 375 and dream about hunting Africa Soon

I think you made a great choice! I can't wait to hear about your up and coming trip. Lion hunting....awesome.
I wouldn't worry about the Remington issue. I have one Remington that doesn't cycle worth a $%#&*....and a few more swear words beyond that too. But it's super accurate. Most of my other guns cycle and perform wonderfully. My brothers new Remington SPS 270 Win....according to him is the best gun he's ever owned, and he has some real dandy's....that I would take from him in two seconds. If your Remingtons shoot fine, everytime...take them and don't worry about it.

You have made a GREAT choice! I hunted with "the man" in 2009 and he went above and beyond what anyone could ask or expect of a PH! Since you are going in May he probably won't have his "snowmobile suit" on! Brutus the beast lives on in my living room!

I just ordered some Nosler 280 Ackley cases for my 280AI, so I can bring that baby down there if can shoot factory 280 ammo. that way the headstamp will match the gun. I shot bunch mule deer with it this year and those 160 Accubonds where outstanding. The co effecient is crazy on those 7mm bullets. The gun shots sub 1/2 moa all day. Now if I can decide on what to load for the 375 it is not like the barnes tsx so I was thinking about going with Nosler Partions for the lion Any thoughts. I post pics of my babies

The 300 gr Partition would be an excellent choice for lion in your .375, nearly perfect. Load it up to near or at 2500 fps and its capable of about anything. My gun liked about 80 grs of IMR 4831 with that bullet, gets about 2530 from a 24" barrel. Good luck!
