Whats your favorite?
Ok so if money was no object or if your wife wouldn't kill you for spending the money what one African animal would you like to hunt for the first time or return for again? I don't mean it has to be the most expensive either, just witch one would be your pick. This should be interesting.
Try and pick just one!
At this time for me its gotta be a bongo. It just has this appeal to me and I think the country and habit is incredible, and I have never been to one of those countries.

Lion in Botswana (not legal unfortunately but I can dream) or lion in Matetsi in Zimbabwe.

When I think about what I'd like to do if time and money were not a consideration, I have about four big items.
1. Those Botswana elephants get me excited. The only problem is practically nothing else there to hunt. Shoot a big bull on day one and you have 70-100k in a one day hunt and you're done. For now, I'd rather spend 21 days somewhere, shoot three of the big four plus PG, and have a three week hunt for less money.
2. A month in central africa. LDE, Bongo, Sitatunga, GF Hog, plus antelopes and buffaloes.
3. Mtn Nyala and Leopard in Ethopia
4. Maasiland, TZ: Lion, leop, buff and all of the northern species.
That's the list.

Will,
I will be you gun bearer when you are ready. Did you buy the double or are you still bolt rifle trash?

While I have alot of bolt actions, the rifles that I do 95% of my hunting with are the ruger#1s, of witch I have in 12 different calibers. They are my favorite! I've been looking at doubles for a while now and just haven't broke down and bought one. I have a post on here with regards to Verney Carron but apparently no members on here have them. Someday soon I'll decide on one and since you volunteered to be my gun bearer maybe I need a 20 to 23lb 600 or 700 nitro express and a twenty mile a day stalk.LOL So for now I'm just Ruger #1 trash. Will

You can take the trashy bolt rifle out of the boy's hand, but . . .
I have a spy going to look at it this weekend. However, I leave in 48 days. Too late to change my kit.
And when are you headed over for Mr. Spots? Any day now, right? I hope those lions move back into the neighborhood. If you have a chance at Shumba, you better hook him.
Cheers, Will

How 'bout that! Two Wills.
FYI: Verney Carrons are a nice piece for the money. I know Ken at Kebco and I've fondeled several of his wares. Good gun for the money. Lots of praise for VCs over on another forum.

For me today, it'd have to be leopard!
Then again, there is something about the mountain nyala that peaks my interest. I'd like to add one to the common nyala sitting behind me at the moment.
Another would be all the pygmy antelopes of Africa, like the Royal antelope, etc. There is something special about the little guys that get over looked too easily!graybird

Safari Lawyer Will,
I am back from Zim, two buff one them ancient and a very nice daytime leopard off communal land.
WST416 Will,
I did not know your name was Will also, but I would gladly carry you 600 Nitro or hire a gunbearer to carry it for me as long as I can shoot it at least once. My first two buffalo were killed with a 416 Ruger No 1 and the leopard I hunted on this past trip was shot with a No 1 in a 300 Win Mag. I know a couple of guys from another forum that have the VC doubles and absolutely love them. Ken at Kebco seems to be a fine fellow.

Mike: I was thinking that you were going in April, but second guessed when you didn't post a report.
Two words: HUNT REPORT! And, of course, congratulations my friend. Pics to willparks@scottsboro.org (if you want to share).
Again, congratulations and welcome home.
Cheers to Katherine.

Are you saying you had a successful leopard hunt in April and you haven't posted a report with pictures yet?! Do you have any idea what that does to an AH addict who isn't going to Africa this year?!!!

To say the least, looking forward to your report and congrats!
To the original post, it would have to be bongo.....no buffalo......no definitely bongo.....wait a second, leopard...... no it would be bongo, and it would have to be a full lifesize mount.

Hard to choose 1 top animal but I guess Bongo with Lesser Kudu, Lord Derby Eland, Sitatunga and Mountain Nyala all coming in a real close second.
The journey is the reward.
