First thing I'd want to know is how well it shoots off the bench? I'm guessing better than 2 inches, but don't know from your post.

Hello Phil
Yes from the bench it shoots .75MOA with my painfully worked up handloads. But i shoot at 6200ft above sea level also wondering what thick air will do to my point of impact. I know it will be low but how much is anyones guess.

I would expect the same, works the other direction for me when I go from 1000' to 6000'. Overall I wouldn't get too bothered by not shooting quite as well off the sticks as on the bench that's to be expected. Just not quite as stable a platform. One thing I've noticed in shooting is to try and do the same thing with my non-trigger hand. If you rest it on the rifle somehow when on the bench do the same off the sticks. If you don't touch it at all, try the same or very lightly.
What type of game are you using this for?

Sticks are purely a function of practice. You have to anticipate the movement in much the same way one does in competitive off-hand events. And that takes repetition over multiple sessions. You will never be quite as accurate with sticks as you are with the bench because your trigger hand elbow floats. But it really will get better and better. And remember, in field conditions, even a 2-inch group will kill any duiker that ever walked, much less a kudu.

Yeah for petes sake dont expect to get MOA groups from sticks. If you can keep your shots inside 2 inches from sit and kneeling, you're doing good pal.

Hello Phil
I primarily use the rifle for moose and Elk. But its a real shooter so i hunt all of my big game with 375's. A 375H&H will work magic on elk with a Tripple shock bullet. All I have to do is find the game and get good shot placement. From there on out its plain work.

Hey Bart, in answer to your original question regarding advice on shooting 2" groups at 100m from the sticks; that is more than adequate accuracy for the vast majority of field hunting situations.
If you can produce this on a consistant basis, with a rifle of that calibre, you'll fill your freezer and cover your walls in no time.
That .375 of yours is a real "shooter". If it's producing this kind of accuracy with a dependable hunting type bullet well there won't be too many game walking away from the end of that muzzle !

You planning on groundhog hunting off sticks with that 375? If you can consistently produce 2 inch groups off the sticks on command, you'll reliably make clean kills on anything that it makes any sense whatsoever to hunt with a 375. If the shooting you describe isn't accurate enough, you need more practice stalking, not shooting.
Your shooting is just fine. It may get better with more practice, but it doesn't need to. If you are looking for a pat on the back for good shooting, I'm happy to give it to you, you've earned it. If you really think your shooting isn't good enough, please step away from the gun magazines. I know all those writers shoot 1 inch groups at 250 yards in a gusty wind under field conditions, but in reality those stories should be viewed with about the same amount of suspicion as the ones in Penthouse Forum.

Hi Bart,
All you need to do is to get off that shooting range, get on the first plane to Africa and start enjoying a good hunt instead of worrying about it. have fun!

Ok lets take this in perpective a 2" group at 100 would mean a 4" at 200 and 6" at 300 even going up to 10" that is still inside any vital zone of most game from springbuck size.
2" groups do not help if you dont know where to place the bullets there is nothing wrong with your shooting study the vitals of the species rather especially difference between gemsbuck, wildebeest and kudu as an example. Most people tend to shoot our animals too high and a lot of the time they get away with it with some spectacular spine shots dropping the animal on the spot.

Bart,
Are you shooting off a tripod or bipod set of sticks? I have found that with my bipod sticks it makes a huge difference where you place them in relation to your body. By moving them back and forth, i found the perfect balance point for my gun sticks combo. My practice groups shrank to 1.5" or so. This is in my coyote gun, but i would assume it will apply to any rifle.
I know this, after a good bit of practice everything i point it at dies!I have walked in the tracks of the elephant, heard the lion roar and met the buffalo on his terms. I shall never be the same.

I don't shoot groups at all.I don't shoot groups at animals either. My CZ .375 takes six rounds, and when I practice off the sticks I shoot six rounds at six different targets ( five inch steel plates ) at different distances.I knock them over 3 or 4 times, clean my rifle and pack it away. If all goes well,I usually do this about twenty to twenty-five times a year.Once you've developed your favorite load, groups don't mean zip.Practice one-shot-one-kill,it's a lot more fun and keeps you sharp.
One does not hunt in order to kill; on the contrary, one kills in order to have hunted.

How do you set your shooting sticks. do you have tri-pod or a bi-pod.?
As mentioned earlier where you place your stock on the sticks is important.
You should lean into the shot.
with practice you will get better that the 2' group you are now getting.James Grage - New Mexico

If you have 0,75MOA from bench with RAPTOR 1MOA no problem.
