Better than sitting in an Office?

Some of you might have noticed my tag line… “Better than sitting in an Office!”

Well, over and above the obvious (I mean hunting is better than sitting in the office isn’t it) there are other reasons for using this line…

Before making a career out of hunting I worked for a “boss” and spent many hours sitting behind a desk staring at my trophy photos on the wall and missing being out in the bush...

One day a (then) colleague of mine (who was as “bush crazy” as what I am) made the remark… “Even a bad day in the bush is better than a good day at the office!” As I could relate to his statement I started using that tag line when I started my own outfit. Later I learned that the word: “bush” has different connotations to different people… so I shortened the line to “Better than sitting in an Office!”

I didn’t realize exactly how appropriate this tag line was until the other day when I “stepped out” into my office… See, I am reliant on a cell phone signal for my internet connection and have no signal inside my house but I do get one or two bars at a certain spot outside in the garden… so whenever I want to download emails or surf the internet I have to take my computer outside and this has become my “place of work” outside hunting season…

“Working” in this “office” has certain disadvantages such as being prone to disturbance from barking kudu and bushbuck whilst trying to concentrate on important issues in the early hours of the morning but it also has certain advantages… I think the pictures below sums it up:





I took them this morning at 6:30am as the sun came up and it displays my “office” and other “office supplies”… a camping chair, crudely home constructed “desk” made from material that was left over from building our horse stables, my laptop, real coffee and my diary…

Many hunting deals have been made from this “office” and many emails have been sent/received from this very spot… I really love sitting “out” my office…

Much better than “sitting in an office”?

Hi Chris, very very true , I would love to have a office like this some day , its very nostalgic at times when you stare at your trophy photos and the trophys on the wall and wish to run back to the wild, its very tough to supress that feeling being a hunter.

Chris, your killing me (lol). There close to 9 feet of snow at the end of my driveway in front of my house...and definitely no kudu or bushbuck!

Chris...It' must suck to be you! What a great office! Listening to a Bushbuck or Kudu beats listening to a boss that like a diaper.. full of S--t & always on your butt!! My heart started yearning again for Africa!!!
