Handgun Hunting in Namibia

In Magnum February 2010 - there's an article about a young boy who has found the "right" way to hunt.

He is hunting with a revolver.

I thought handgun hunting was forbidden in Namibia ?
Is there different rules for Namibian citizens and foreign hunters?

Or: Have I misunderstood the rules?

You are correct sport hunting in Namibia with a handgun is prohibited.

My PC-equipment is some old stuff (but the only one in the house which not get any virus - because I don`t surfe bl..... sites). But I read the article - as they are living in Namibia.
But if you think that someone can read my question about the hunt - and take affair - please delete my thread.

Hangun hunting is illegal in Namibia, for citizens or non-residents, does not matter.

Despite of several discussions, it remains to be seen if the Namibian Government (Ministry of Environment and Tourism) would ever change this regulation.

Perhaps it was a Namibian boy handgun-hunting in South Africa???
Would be interesting to know - if anyone have a Feb '2010 Magnum magazine somewhere.

article on p14-15 'springbuck with a handgun' by faan oosthuizen
his 15 year old son 'janus' hunted a springbuck with a 44mag ruger blackhawk after a long stalk on foot.
[also some warthogs]
springbuck shot at 45 m-nice photo of this as well
apparently this hunt took place in the omatako area in namibia during 2009
the article did'nt say if this happened on their own farm or if they were just hunters there,

Perhaps the youg fellow hunted on own / family / friends farm - not much 'observing' from the outside in that case.

Bottom line - no handgun sport-hunting in Namibia.
