The guy survived the bear attack.
The bear jumped on him while he was sleeping in his tent and he managed to get it off of him and shoot it.

That will give you nightmares. I know guys that work on the Alaskan pipeline that have some exciting bear encounters. An alarm system such as dogs, bells on a wire or an electric fence would be prudent.

I have spent alot of time in the Arctic, up as far as Resolute and am constantly on the lookout for bears when we are up there. The photos show how much damage they can inflict quickly. Last time up on my way back we stopped to refuel in Halls Beach and were told that the locals were out hunting a bear that had came in and killed two dogs chained up beside the house. I know whenever we spot a bear nobody gets much sleep that night. He is one lucky survivor and has earned the "tough Guy" title!

Welcome to Northern Canada. White bears, white snow and you are just food!
