7 Hunting Days - Make me an Offer
Folks,
As reported here last month, part of our house here on our ranch burnt down as result of an accidental fire... Repairs are on track thanks to the generosity of many including my agent- Joe Riekers from tarsporting.com who donated and auctioned a pig hunt for this cause and we will be ready to start hosting guests here again by month-end for which we are eternally greatful. The help and offers to help we've received have been amazing! For more info on our progress please check out http://www.facebook.com/christroskie.safaris
So to celebrate the "new" Sabrisa and as a token of appreciation for the generosity of those who helped to restore our house to its former glory (and even better) I've decided to offer 7 hunting days to the highest bidder in an "auction" that will run from today until midnight November 30th, 2012.
The deal is this:
Included in this offer is:
Pick-up, transfer and drop-off from OR Tambo Int Airport to Sabrisa Ranch.
7 X full 1X1 hunting days
All accommodations, meals and beverages
Services of fully licensed and experienced PH
Use of Hunting Vehicle + services of driver, tracker/skinner
Daily room-and-laundry-service
Field prep i.e. skinning, marking and salting of trophies
10% dicount on 2013 Trophy Fees
Excluded from the offer is:
Trophy Fees (less 10%) for animals killed or wounded and lost during the hunt
Daily Rates for additional Hunters ($450p/d 1X1 / $350p/d 2X1)
Daily Rates for Observers - $200p/p/d
The total value of this offer is $3,762.00 which is calculated as follows:
Arrival Day - $150
7 X Hunting Days @ $450p/d - $3,150
Sub Total - $3,300
Tax - $462
TOTAL - $3,762
I think a good starting bid for this hunt would be $1,000 (less than 30% of its value).
You can bid on this hunt by sending me a PM or pvt email or posting your bid right here. The highest bidder will be the winner and based on his/her choice his/her name will be made public here.
So... start bidding!
Best of luck

Thought I'd share some pictures to show what this celebration offer is all about. On Oct 3rd at around 4pm a fire started on the one side of our house. I tried using a domestic fire extinguisher to put it out to no avail and realized our only hope was to get water here quick and in large quantities. For this I had to drive down to the river to start the electric pump so I could use the irrigation pipes...By the time I got back (7 minutes to be exact), the fire - fueled by our reed and timber ceiling - had spread all the way around the house and had already set one of our vehicles with a full tank of fuel alight. My thoughts were consumed with fighting the fire and preventing it from spreading further but my attempts to start the Landrover and move it away from the house were unsuccessful. Meanwhile my daughter ran up to an area of our property where she could get cell phone service and get hold of the fire brigade. Fortunately she managed to stop a passing neighbour who alerted the community firefighting team but we're 40 minutes drive from town...As said; at the top of my mind was trying to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading until help arrived... The thought of saving my rifles and some personal belongings crossed my mind but the Landrover was parked close to the area where our propane gas bottles, emergency generator and gasoline is stored so I focussed my attention on this...Long story short is that I did manage to prevent the fire from reaching the fuel and propane bottles, help did arrive and we did not lose everything...Now in spite of the tragedy and loss - there is a humerous side to this story as well:My wife kept the presence of mind to save some important items from inside the house and was very brave to run into the inferno no less than three times before the smoke became too overwhelming for her to re-enterOn her first trip in she rescued her parrot...On the second she grabbed important documents and cash I had in the safe. On her way out, she saved a cheetah skin from the wall and a valuable painting (priorities, priorities)...On her third trip in she grabbed three of my rifles and with her arms/hands full of rifles she could not carry anything else. Then she saw the bottle of expensive new night cream she'd just bought and considered leaving the rifles in favour of the night cream (priorities, priorities...) Fortunately she magaged to prop the jar of night cream under her chin and made it out safely. She says she was on her way back in again to save some other items of great importance to her: several pairs of cowboy boots and Double D Ranch leather jacket that she brought back from the States but then the smoke became too much and she had to let it go...This is what our house looked like the following morning:

My laptop computer and external hard drive with all my raw video material and many of my trophy pics was standing on this table... that's all gone now.
We were due to leave on a photographic safari to Namibia with clients/friends a week later so could not commence with reconstruction work immediately but upon our return the real work started and three weeks later my three helpers and I have progressed nicely:
Since the last photo was taken we've finished the veranda roof structure and are busy attaching the corrugated iron sheets. The interior is just about fixed up
As said, fortunately she saved the cheetah skin
I'm thankful to Sabina for saving my rifles... But I have to admit I'm terrified of hearing one sentence from her during our next trip to the States that will include the words:"Double D Ranch"
