I've heard from a mate in Aus that they're about to cull 1m feral camels! This is gonna be a hard sell mate! Some land owners will pay you to shoot them! So you're offering to outfit the guys for the rate offered?\

I'm going to respectfully disagree. I think the 1800 price is pretty good considering it all. As a foreign hunter, gathering all of the supplies (fuel, water, food) for such a "middle of nowhere" hunt would not only cost money, but it would be very time consuming and possibly aggravating from this side. Booking with an outfitter who already has the land, tents, food, etc would be really nice. That way all the hunter has to do is show up, sight in the rifle again and start shooting, the whole while knowing that all of his other needs have been prearranged.

Tom, I do think the price is good considering whats being offered! You won't get any(?) African outfitters offering foreign hunters that kind of deal! Yet there is a market for cull shoots I believe. In Namibia, a land owner I was chatting to a week ago, reckons they cull 15000 Springbuck and hundreds of Gemsbok every year. I guess there'll be some takers!

yes u r right mate they do cull camels in the 1000s and they are become one of the worst pest in australia and for your info on landowners paying you to shoot there camels you are also right but you need to have a professional shooters licence which just the permit alone cost as much as they hunt and then you have to know a chopper pilot who is will to go into it with you oh and don't forget the casa approval for shooting a weapon out of a chopper ! as our hunt is not shooting from a chopper ! and i pay good money to be able to conduct these hunts i am hoping clients and landowners will see the value in doing a hunt such as this one because australia is the only place in the world where camels roam the desert in such numbers that i can commercailly hunt them with clients ! and the bonus is that they are such a destructive pest and that they are right near alice springs ! i don't want to come across bad and i thank you for your comments ! i am in the beginning stages of my company and i have a lot of new types of hunts and ways to make hunting more affordable for the average hunter ! i love hunting i live for it! so please if you want refrences please just ask one of my clients james faull 0429325063 he shot a australia top 20 javan rusa this year on the first day!

sounds like fun...
with the Australian dollar 0.9568 VS the USD at 1.00
The big expense would be air fair.
Questions to ask.
What would be a reasonable expectations on animal take?
Rifle requirements for Australia and hunting Camel's. is it 300 or bigger.
December being the heat of the year for down under. with out looking it up what would be be the high's and lows temperatures to be incountered.James Grage - New Mexico

With the current camel cull going on atm, numbers are fluctuating! (I have contacts south of Alice springs)
There are no caliber restrictions for hunting camels, they have been taken with .270/308, but I use my 338 Win mag when hunting them, although I'd also use my 300wm with the right bullets.
The Australian summer is one of the harshest, with temp up at 45+ deg during the heat of the day!
Not trying to put a downer on this but you need to know all the possibilities when you are handing over your $$$!Hunt hard and enjoy the adventure!

yeah that why the call us hard working aussie hunters but to answer the previous aussie hunters comment about different numbers yes that is true but the size of the territory that the camels cover is about the size of england and scotland conbine so getting rid of all of them is like trying to kill all the rabbits in australia no matter how hard you try there will still be lots of them! so like i said before bring lots of bullets!australia is a beautiful place and the red centre is one of our must see places as there is no place like this on earth . i love australia because of it vast contrasts from coral reefs to rainforest to vast desserts which are all beautiful in there own way that why my company is called unique adventures because everyday is a new and unique adventure!
