Mozambique End of Season Special 2011 Hunt
Mozambique End of Season Special 2011 Hunt
TROPHY FEES:
Buffalo @ ZAR 15,000 (7 day hunt)
Hippo @ ZAR 10,000 (7 day hunt)
Croc @ ZAR 5,000 (7 day hunt)
Leopard @ ZAR 17,000 (15 day hunt)
DAY FEES:
R3,600 per person per day (includes food, cold drinks and camp facilities).
PH fees R 700 per day.
ADDITIONAL COSTS:
Rifle license R 2,350 (includes courier costs)
Hunting license R 250.
Alcoholic beverages.
Sipping & Packing @ R 3,500/crate.
Transport to camp from:
Quelimane R 1,500 (by boat and road +/- 5 hours in each direction)
Marromeu R 1,600 (by boat +/- 2 hours in each direction)
RIFLE PERMITS:
Rifle licenses must be applied for a minimum of 4 weeks prior to client's departure from South Africa. The port of entry and exit to and from South Africa cannot be changed once the paperwork has been submitted. The cost per weapon is as listed above; this includes DHL costs in both directions of R 300 per dispatch).
TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS:
Clients can fly into Quelimane or Marromeu (see pick up costs listed above). If anyone wishes to drive directly to Luabo for pickup by boat they can contact me for directions and advice. The journey is +/- 2,600 from Johannesburg and realistically spans 3 days.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
A deposit of 50% of total cost is payable with booking. The balance must be paid 2 weeks prior to commencement of hunt, this is none negotiable. The trophy fee is 100% refundable in the unlikely event of the opportunity to shoot the trophy not presenting itself. One major concern is fitness, this definitely rates as an 'extreme' hunt and there is a more than fair amount of walking through challenging terrain. There are 2 Argos and 2 boats available in camp, however the buffalo favour the swamps during the day and much of the hunt can be expected to take place on foot.

Would it be too much of an imposition to quote this in USD so I can compare apples to apples? Thanks

My quick math revealed about $500 per day for the buff hunt, $100 per day for PH and a $2,100 trophy fee. I didn't add any of the other costs though.

best my little calculator will do is about $11,000 USD including tips and air but no contingencies
Trophy Fee $2,100
Day Rate 3,525
PH 700
Other 1,100
Tips 1,500
Air 2,000
$10,925.00
That's with the USD = 7.147 ZAR and I am not sure they are going to exchange that good so maybe figure 10-15% more so probably best to figure USD 12,000 - 13,000
I guess that's okay, anyone let me know if I missed a decimal someplace."He even took the gramophone on safari. Three rifles, provisions for a month and . . . . Mozart"

What are the odds of returning from a hunt in this area with a buff? Wasn't Juan Pace also hunting this area?
Is this not the same hunts advertised by Johansmith? Is the government trophy fees included?
Do you have contact numbers of Albert Smith? Any client testimonials that hunted this area and with Albert? Thinking of a October hunt if all checks out.Success I think is where experience, preparation, commitment and luck meets up

Hi Andries,
To answer your questions, just spoke to the outfitter who said the following:
"The cost includes the government fee and the expectation of getting a buffalo is extremely good as long as the client is fit. I will be able to show the client a herd within the first 2 days of the hunt commencing, the rest is up to the clients capabilities. I can give you contact details for you to request testimonials from hunters who have been on the farm previously."Elite Archery Pro Staff - Winners Choice Pro Staff - Muzzy Pro Staff - Tightspot Pro Staff - Victory Pro Staff
