Which Pelican Case?

Heys guys, trying to decide which pelican case to get for my plains game hunt in May. I'll be taking two scoped rifles, both Model 70 Winchesters. Trying to decide which case I need, between the model 1750 and iM3300. The only difference I see is that the iM3300 is a half in wider, and a bit deeper, which may come in handy. Anyone with knowledge on these two cases please chime in! Thanks!

I am taking a 1750 in July. Taking 2 rifles also.

The 1750's take two big-scoped rifles, plus cleaning supplies, extra scope or ammo where it's legal. I like it because replacement foam is easily available, including the "pick and pluck" stuff. Cutting the foam to fit can be a challenge (I use a very sharp serrated knife.) The things are virtually indestructible but fairly heavy.

Never used the 3300 but I see it has two extra latches. Wouldn't think them necessary, plus I bet its even heavier.

They are indestructible.
I throw my duffle bag on top (strap it down) and use it like a dolly to carry all my bags.

Two scoped rifles, games cameras, batteries. etc, fit inside.

Lockable.
No leaks no dust. Those extra latches ensure this.
No issues with airlines.

They are not flimsy or light weight for sure.

Wow, that one is thirty bucks cheaper than the retail stores online...and free shipping! What a deal! I'm going to try to look at each of them in store before I buy, or before my girlfriend buys it, for Christmas!

my girlfriend is buying mine for me for xmas to i just have to decide. probably going with the 1750 it is 25 or so cheaper than the cheapest 3300 i can find.

I like looks of the picture of the 3300 that was posted above...seems like it has a bit more room on the sides for extra equipment/tools. Biggdawg, sounds like we both got did well in the girlfriend department.

I have used my Pelican 1750 for the last three years going to South Africa and Zimbabwe. I have seen the airports throw it around, slide it, drop it and the exterior shows the wear. The good part: the rifles have always arrived in perfect condition and the scopes were still dead on target.

I got mine on sale from Sportsman guide and it is certainly worth the money. ( I carry a scoped .340 Weatherby Magnum and a scoped .416 Ruger Hawkeye Alaskan.)

It was heavy. I can not recall what it weighed.

I was happy it had wheels!

I did not pay any extra for over weight on my baggage, if that says anything.

I keep trying to talk myself into a new case but I already have an old SafeTCase brand aluminum 2 rifle job I have used several times, so may as well keep using it. I put my two rifles in it that I plan to take on my next trip and it weighed 43 #'s so I can throw a couple more items in it and still be under the limit. I bought it for my first safari in 1984! It was $200 back then, from an ad in the SCI mag.!

3300 all the way. The extra 1/2" comes in real handy when 26" bbl guns come into the picture or you are packing in extra gear like bipods etc (or in Waynes case the kitchen sink! LOL) and the latches are better, the handles are better, other than that they are basically the same case.

1750 2 trips and going on a 3rd in 2014, just a couple scratches and no issues with the contents (gun held zero both times and that was there and back, just wanted to check when i got back) and those baggage handlers are brutal, so its passed the test for me!!!!:thumbsup:

I bought a 1750 for my tip to RSA in May. I cut the middle foam with an electric filet knife (saw this on YouTube) to fit my 2 rifles perfectly. They arrived safe and sound and still zeroed. I bought it at the Sportsman's Guide for around $200. Highly recommend it.
