I'd like to ask, you guys, if you use a flashlight for hunting?

only walking in or out of somewhere before or after a hunt ,or looking /recovering a downed animal .
in Australia or at least in Victoria it is illegal to hunt game with artificial light even the torch or headlight is restricted in size to im sure its only allowed to be powered by 3x aaa batteries .
by the way welcome and enjoy the site

wellcome here
there is a difference between a flashlight and a spotlight
flashlight for hunting---no
[only to check the footpath back home during moonless nights, recovering and some odds and end needs in camp]
why do you ask?
if i know your needs, then i can maybe give you a clearer answer
regards

Observer is right even though here in the US we use large flashlights or small spotlights for hunting Nocturnal animals such a raccoon generally there only used in my area to get to or out of my deer stand in the early morning or late evening.

My pack always has a headlamp and extra batteries. It has saved me from sleeping on the mountain a couple times and is real handy when you drop an animal at last light and have to process it in the dark.

Only walking in and out at dark or lookng for animals nice to have if your getting into a dark hide just to check for snakes.

I use it for getting to and from the vehicle into the blind. wouldn't want to step on a snake.
Maglite LED 2-cell D works great!

Thanks for your opinions. I'd like to purchase a handhold flashlight or a headlamp. And donb't know what to choose. May be the flashlight is better. What do you think? And what brand do you own?

hand held try fenix, jetbeam, olight. plenty of selection from theses manufacturers. they are cheaper than surefire and put out more lumens with more usage options. they are all well made. buy some rechargeable 18650 type batteries with a charger and then you wont have to worry about the expense of buying the cr123 lithium batteries, one 18650 is the same as two of the cr123`s. maglites used to be the only choice but in my opinion rested on their laurels and now are way behind. with these makes you can have a 5 to 6 inch length torch with so much more power than a 3 d cell maglight its a joke, you can carry them in your top pocket or a lot come with a belt pouch. on their lower settings they have very long run times and have strobe and sos settings. in head torches fenix and petzl are good. i play with a lot of different torches and use these makes a lot. bit of a torch addict i suppose to add to the rest of the addictions most people on here seem to suffer from.....:beer:

Lot of really good flashlights out there. The one I am partial to is a Nebo Redline Tactical Flashlight.
You can purchase one here: Amazon.com: Nebo 5581 220 Lumen Redline Tactical Flashlight Strobe S.O.S: Home Improvement
This is a bright 220 lumens "white" light which for me allows me to see much better than a yellow tinted light. I also like a replaceable (3-AAA) battery light because on some of my wilderness hunting trips I have no electrical power source for 2 weeks at a time. The flashlight is only used for making my way in the dark to and from, but is equally nice for nighttime blood trailing.

I used to do alot of long distance hiking, and I've incorporated some of what I've learned into hunting.
For flashlights, I like a LED (available in auto parts stores) not too bright, For headlamp, I now use the petzal, only because both take standard AAA batteries.
I've been where I needed batteries and my light took some wafer battery and couldn't find any..

Good choice of flashlights makes me wonder... I'd wahnt to purchase this light Armytek Predator Pro Flashlight. Unique Tactical Flashlight with Constant Brightness. but nobody says about it.

Look like a nice light. If you really like it, go for it.

Two things I consider in flashlights are weight (the lighter the better) and replaceable standard batteries.

If you like a rechargeable light, check out the features on this innovative torch

This light seems good. According to the specifications, Armytek Predator is 5.82 oz and powered by 1x18650 Li-Ion / 2xCR123A / 2xR123 Li-Ion

Is it ok? I mean these two things:)

This is what the manufacture claims. I fondled one at a sports show a few weeks back. Quality light. One interesting feature I thought may come in handy is that you can power your cell phone with it. Say your cell phone battery is running low or dead...as I understand it, with the correct connecting cord you can power up your cell phone via your flashlight. Pretty cool.

Like spike.t says "go buy it and let us know":)

The sales representative at the show made this claim. Good luck with your purchase.
