Would you like a Cigar?

What.......no Swisher Sweets or White Owls?
Lol! I am pretty sure most of us have smoked them when we began this hobby. I remember buying the swisher sweets to practice lighting a cigar properly before going to the quality cigars and torch them to carbon. This only happened a couple of times. never reallly enjoyed the cigars themselves.

Still a good comment.

thought it was , was just getting worried in case you were being serious and did like them , as some of the flavours were like :) and i promise you i am not one of them spanish things either.....:):):)

In high school/college my friends and I would smoke them when we played poker. We thought we were pretty tuff stuff. That's the only reason I know what Swisher Sweets and White Owls are. They were the only cigars we could afford.

Which cigars did you smoke while playing golf?
a couple different type ACs,,Cohiba,s,,Macanudo,s,,,when I was a Chef at a Hotel in the Florida Keys I used to drive up to Key largo to a Cigar Shop that always had a Couple Cubans Hand Rolling Cigars,,but that was back in the 90s,,,

Nice to see so many cigar officianados on AH.
I smoke three or four cigars a week. If I was restricted to only one smoke it would be the Oliva V series double robusto.
If I want a milder smoke I go with the Perdomo Champagne 10th Anniv.
This time of year is great in Maine as I can set outside and allows me a daily cigar.
Once winter sets in it's three months of withdrawl unless we sneak away to somewhere warm on vacation.

Have you tried the Ernesto Perez Carillo (EPC) "inch" cigar? I am sure you will enjoy. they come in both maduro and natural, same with the Padron 1964. As far as mild cigars, the EPC New wave Connecticut are great, also the Arturo Fuente chateau (the green band), Vega Fina.

I have not tried the EPC "inch cigar". I am assuming it is similar to the "Nubs"?
I have tried many types of cigars but seemingly keep returning to the ones I mentioned above. I have tried some of the Arturo Fuente cigars but could not tell you which ones. I keep meaning to save the bands on cigars I try and keep a journal but it never seems to happen.

I went to New York City with a friend a few years back and visited a cigar shop on Arthur ave. in Little Italy.
They roll their own cigars on the premises and they are quite good. I just received this week a bundle of twenty-five robustos which cost sixty dollars for the bundle.
They are worth a try for the money. Their connecticut wrapper cigar is good as well.
If you want to check it out simply Google "Arthur Avenue Cigars"

"

the Inch cigars refer to the guage. its a 60 up to 70 ring guage. they are about 6"-7" long. just very thick cigars. they are very well balanced, like the alec bradley prensado :)

Tim, i will look into the Arthur Ave cigars. Let me know how the cigars were.

I have tried some "bargain" cigars. Casa de Garcia. they are about $2 for a toro and $2.25 for a churchill they come in conn. wrappers in natural and maduro.. they are not that bad for bargain cigars. the are from the Dom Rep. they will have some issues like draw, burn, some water spots on the wrapper. but heck its a cheap smoke. its a good "Yardgar" lol :)

If my Flight has a layover in Amsterdam I understand there is a Great Cigar Store in the city,,if not I,ll find something at a local store in the Twin Cities

the bright side of a layover outside the US..access to cuban cigars :D

I normally smoke cuban cigars, but for those of you who cannot get them I would recommend the Vegafina from the Dominican Republic, the Fortaleza 2 is an outstanding smoke !

indeed Vegafinas are very good cigars. The fortalezas are great medium to full bodied cigar, and the VegaFinas with the silver band are great Mild cigars.!
Have you tried the Montecristo Open (cuban) and the famous Behike from cohiba?
thanks for sharing!!

Im sure that is an excellent way of ending a day. With the sky a burnt orange color and distant silhouettes of scattered trees maybe an animal or two as well. Now all you need is a good Scotch :)

Back home I often combine this with a nice single malt, but I always combine with a south african brandy of some sort, in honor of the country I love to visit and hunt :)

Which cigars do you normally smoke? Have you tried Ardberg 10yrs single malt?

Thanks for sharing Svinejakt!

Ashton VSG is great smoke, especially with a MacAllan.

Indeed I enjoyed the Wizard size of the VSG, great med to full body smoke!
Have you tired the Arturo Fuente Magnum R rosado sungrown?

In the AF line, I prefer the Hemingway Short Story. Great 15-30 min smoke. Not a big smoker, I only have a cigar about once a month or so.

now some of that is rocket fuel!! vintage port was my tipple of choice, used to be really in to it, but now i still like it but tends to make me go slightly more loopy than normal. it was good end of the meal at the function/ball we were at fire up the cigars and a decanter of a nice vintage port or so each, and heaven.........:)
