Crocodile Hunt Mozambique - Kwalata Wilderness

Hi folks, I still have some crocodile remaining on quota for this season, 4 to be exact on our Cahorra Bassa area in Moz.

I am providing a bottom line all inclusive price below with some pictures of what one could expect, as well as some of our resources all to make the hunt run smoothly and to make it as enjoyable as possible.

Trophy quality can be expected to be excellent with 15' being a reasonably common mark.

The duration of the safari will be for 7 full days of hunting (8 nights)

Total pricing includes:

*7 Full hunting days
*All meals as well as all drinks alcoholic and soft drinks and H2O
*Fully operational and licensed Professional hunter (Myself), as well as hunting vehicle 2 boats, all fuel skinners and trackers.
*Airport pick up from Tete as well as drop off. (around 2 hours by vehicle and another 2 hours by boat)
*Trophy fee and tag fee for 1 x Crocodile
*Rifle license
*Hunting Card
*Trophy transport to exporter
*Concession fee
*Should the flight arrive late and our departure time to Camp be after 1 pm I will include another full day as well as that specific night's accomodationin Tete for a departure the following morning.

Pricing excludes:

*All taxidermy work as well as shipping, dipping and packing of trophies.
*Accomodation in Johannesburg should it be required due to international flight arrival times.
*Non Hunting observer rate of $250 Also all inclusive
*Any international airfare This also goes for the commercial flight to Tete on either LAM or SAA.


Additional trophies may be added, quota permitting...... please feel free to let me know of any particular interests.

If I were in the market for a croc hunt I would now not look any further.

Looks like a neat place to hunt, extremely fair price and some pics of some fat-toad crocs.
A 15 ft croc from anywhere is an impressive beast.

Thanks Paul Thanks so much, I would like to say this again Bernard van Dyk is no longer part of Nhenda or present or part of our venture, this is a "JV" between myself, Reinhard and Hardus van Zijl, as mentioned in an earlier post, all these areas will become Coutada's by the end of this season and quota or rather lease will be issued for 10 years at a time, we do intend to renew as we have right of refusal (1st)

We are also in the process of tying down 2 additional blocks in Niassa and I will keep all updated on this, Once again this is with out a doubt one of the best crocodile hunting areas in Africa...

We look forward to hosting and sharing many great safari's and creating some awesome memories....

Thanks brickburn, hunting these big crocodile truly involve some great stalks and skill, I am sure that hunters will be pleasantly surprised,

The terrain is extremely hilly and we use the boats to manoeuvre into the small peninsula's and rivers/streams all along the shore line it saves allot of time when hunting these croc's or hippo especially when one considers the distances you travel.

Good deal Jaco! Having just hunted down river from there last August, I can verify that they are very much under rated as trophies. Especially Croc's as old as what you are taking. They did not outlast the dinosaurs by being stupid. I look forward to hunting them again someday! Besides, my 14'-7" Croc. isn't as big is my buddies 17'-10" Croc! I still have to beat him!... lol To give you an idea how smart they are, he hunted that particular Croc for 13 straight days before he finally got him. Anybody that jumps on this will not be disappointed!

Dtarin09 I approach it like any other hunting day and start early morning.. (no rest for the wicked).. On average a 15 footer is anywhere from 70 years and up in age with the average age of crocs we harvest around 80 years of age.

Be carfull...... while crocodile might seem "lathargic" and lazy they are completely the opposite, and finding and succesfully harvesting a quality croc is a truely awesome achievement...

We, do constantly, scout for "great" trophy crocs, and try to slowly and quitly work in on foot where we know these guys have been hanging out, this is made easier by crocodiles being territorial, once you have seen him in a certain area he'll probably be there again.

The boats are used to work the shore line, off them we work on foot, we have 2 coolers full of refreshments for the hot days as well as some great packed lunces, a suitable tree is always nearby for a well deserved break........

Just when I started out years ago I was told that the only way to succesfully hunt a Croc would be from a blind over bait... I have to honestly say it is easier,............ but working it hard and stalking is way more rewarding and myself and many others still manage to harvest great crocs with an even better experience....

I can guarantee that each and every hunter will be tired by the end of each and every day

When I first saw your offer Jaco, it didn't interest me much even if the crocs are huge, since I thought it would be a blind over bait hunt.
When I now see that hunt will be on foot, stalking to get a chance on a huge croc that is not baited, I find the offer much more interesting
That is much more my type of hunting.
Hopefully I one day can go on a hunt like this.

Will be surprised if this doesn't sell quickly.

NW, I am glad that you like the idea, it is my preference as well as mentioned, I still believe there is a large number of crocodile hunted like this......

Regardless it is the only method we use....... I'll keep you updated as we go....

Just to back up what Jaco is saying.....When I hunted croc in Moz last year, it was one of my most enjoyable hunts! Spot and stalk croc is no "cake walk". It was just as much an adrenaline rush as my buffalo hunts. Monster crocs are extremely wary and getting up close enough for a brain shot can be nerve racking. Throw in the pressure of hitting a golf ball size target or possible lose your trophy and you have the makings of a exciting hunt. Whoever takes Jaco up on this deal will be in for a memorable adventure. If I wasn't trying to plan and elephant hunt for 2015, I'd jump on this.

. I might have to come to Africa sooner than i expected. I killed a few hundred alligators a year when i was doing that and they are like frogs compared with a large croc. For a brain not as big as a walnut they are extremely smart animals. Their eyesight is on par with a hawk hearing is great and their sense of smell is as good as a dogs.

How do you deal with that large of an animal if its hot out? Their hides will slip if out in sun for a few hrs. Basically my question is what process do you go through after the animal is taken ?

a little 5 ft American Croc I had for a reptile shows. They are much faster and smarter than any reptile i have worked with

Good question

Our area has around 89 miles of Cahora Bassa shore line we mostly pre scout large bulls as they tend to be quite territorial, we move by boat until we are anything from just under a mile in walking distance and then stalk in on these crocs.... Note...... I have not been able to harvest one of these ultra big bulls by bait, as the sheer number of crocodile causes the smaller crocs to virtually finish any bait before the big boys get there...

We spot and stalk exclusively.. once shot (I prefer the spine instead of the brain shot as you have a slightly larger margin for error) pictures are taken and the croc is then recovered by boat, I usually tie it to the front and then drag it between the 2 hull's underneath.... and not behind for obvious reasons.

Our recoveries are quite quick and we have not had a problem with skins spoiling, we recover the entire animal and it is taken back to our base camp were it is skinned.

Thanks for the info . I like a spine shot as well or base of skull .I usually have to use a bait line or fishing rod and a bangstick being i trap gators in populated areas .
The only way a bait might work is if you hang it high enough off the water the smaller ones cannot get to it I use about a 4000lb test line for gators because they will sometimes come on land and roll in the line I guess it would have to be a 6000lb test for a big Croc. Thanks again 4 info.
