Has anyone else noticed the uptick in people on line here on this forum in the last few days?
I'm seeing over 6000 at most anytime 24 hrs when a couple of weeks ago it was around 5000.
20% increase!

I certainly have, good news for AH!

Sure have noticed the good news and the not so good, (the attendant increase in !@#$%^&*(( Spammers. )

But, we have the weapons to hunt them now. :)

If you notice we have a few members and a bunch of observers.

The observers are potential new members and possibly some new individuals looking to book a African safari...

This forum adds a lot of expertise and knowledge in booking a Safari...

I know i was an observer for a few years and only joined prior to taking my first safari in 2010...and i think many observers looking and thinking that a safari is a doable event...

The great safari currently being offered should entice some new takers into taking an African safari...

And many know that show time starts with the Dallas Safari club the first week in January and then conventions flow all over the USA and Canada.

a lot of observers, but what i wonder about is the fact that there is a steady stream of new members, but the amount of members logged in doesnt seem to go up. it seems to run about the 140 mark on a sunday the quietest day it appears, to the rest of the week seeming to vary from the 170`s to 190 or so people. :headscratch:

spike- yes there seems to be a lot of looky-loos and the 'membership " looks about the same but more are looking in none the less. That bodes well for the African experience in general. If we get through this next election TOMORROW (GET OUT AND VOTE EVEYONE!) the economy may start back up.
JamesG- we'll be at DSC If your there lets meet up for a few minutes.

I think there are people suffering from "forum burnout" some of the other sites have become boring, predictable and only the members suffering from HPCH (high post count hostility) are active.

It has become a mutual admiration society where only the "big dogs" speak to one another.

This forum for some reason is slower than some others and immediate post gratification doesn't exist

Well very few of us I suspect were very pleased with the outcome of the vote. I for one was most unhappy both nationally and locally. Everything I voted for failed and everything and everybody I voted against passed or got elected/re-elected! Worst vote outcome in memory! Many theories as to why but at this point it doesnt matter much, we lost big time! Just awful!!

Ineptocracy - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed are rewarded with goods and services paid for with the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers .....

I'd like to think that newcomers to AH would never feel that way. I'm a member of various forums and not all are hunting related. The worst thing that happens is just what you mentioned and it becomes more of a country club type atmosphere. I've seen this in other forums and that's about the time it ceases to be enjoyable.

Go get him BB: 9329-u-boat-perfect-replica.html#post6951

We have a global tag team going.
I was out chasing Whitetails all day so subs were off the list. But it was apparently sunk by another AH depth charge. :)

Looky loos are always good Ithink the forum attracts allot of attention and word of mouth is a major factor here, the interesting topics and lack of constant bickering can only encourage new members to join and to become regulars, I have only been on this forum for 1 full year now and it is one the first and only forum I have ever joined..... It's great I love it and although we do not always agree we can all disagree in a civilised manner......

Well sometimes at least!!!!

He He Thanks Jerome and all other members for making this forum what it is!!

My best always.

As a fairly new member to the forum, i was a looky loo before becoming active. It is a great way to size up the content and decide if it is something you want to participate in. This forum compared to some others i looked at seemed to have folks whose advice was genuine and had no hidden agendas. On some other forums it semed to be a cutthroat competion for business. Although i currently live in Africa, this forum played a huge part in motivating me towards my first safari and provided many great contacts for hopefully some future trips. So to all the looky loos out there, sign up!

Any forum is only as good as the forum members and here there are some great people they all really try to be civil and helpful. I, too, do not join forums as a general rule for the problems mentioned but this is one of only 3 that I do belong to. This is also the best of the bunch. Let's all work to keep it that way.

Well done whatever the case! Chasin' whitetails....now that I miss.

I watched and learned for the first year...and then became a contributor when I saw all the constructive info that was being shared. I really enjoy AH, and now regularly try to keep up with the threads. I find it is, by far, the most interesting and informative hunting site that I can find. Lots of good info and good discussions...plus good input about all aspects of the hunt.

Sest, That is an understatement... My wife said it best, "This election proved to the rest of the world that HALF of the US citizens are idiots"... The outcome was unacceptable.

As far as the Lookies, I think it is a good thing for AH. I belong to one forum, but the way the others are described, sounds like there is a lot if squabbling and "bullying". At least the Lookies can see that this is a very civil enviornment.

+1 35!!!

Phil,
Ya, please don't take my comment wrong, the "other" one is the forum to which I speak. If you get crossways with the "boss" for any reason what so ever, the lynch mob will make it so uncomfortable for you that you just leave. This forum is not that way but there is not much activity here either. Shameless azz kissers.
